Kenna Morton's Journal, 30 December 2018

I have been catching up on some of my medical journal readings and I came across an alarming statistic. 3.5 % of children in the United States have high blood pressures and are already on antihypertensives. The biggest contributor is diet (of course), increase in kidney disease and diabetes and due to what we call essential hypertention which up until recently has been an adult disease. What we are seeing here is a continuing escalation of generational issues. Very sad. Here is a great motivation for continuing the quest for a healthier overall lifestyle.

Additionally... reduce screen time, increase sunshine, enforce a bedtime and they'll be just fine.

Eating too many carbs

Liv001– you are right, too many carbs but take it one step further— too many Processed carbs and added sugar. ALl carbs are not created equal. A difference between low glycemic fruits, vegetables and TWINKIES.

It is just too bad that Twinkies are a lot cheaper. Not sure what the solution is. All we can do it hope people will start making better choices but it is extra sad when it is kids because they get placed into situations

The beauty of following portion control is that it is a healthier way of eating and it helps keep your grocery bill under control..learning to cook for the number of people you are serving is good. No wasted food unless you have a plan for the leftovers for another meal.

My kids eat an abundance of delicious carbs, they are on the road of healthy eating habits 😌😋
