Took the pooch to get another ultrasound yesterday. This time we saw a different vet who seemed much more experienced and he even let me stick around to watch. He explained everything so much better and with more confidence. Clearly, there are some not so great things going on inside my little dog. We go again next week to get a consultation with a surgeon. It might even be possible to treat her medically. Of course, the ultrasound alone set me back almost $400 but really helps me to make a better decision for how to treat her. He thinks she may have Cushing's disease but the immediate threat is the mucocele on her gall bladder which needs to come out.
I'm torn as to what lengths to go to in order to prolong her life. I have been praying about it but I don't feel any peace about it, yet.
Today I am thankful that despite the poor prognosis, my little dog seems very happy and healthy (symptom-free, let's say). I am thankful that it is Friday. I still haven't gotten new batteries so I have no idea what I weigh at the moment. I am thankful for my paycheck which is needed now more than ever with all these vet bills.
