Eringiffin's Journal, 24 September 2012

Wow, this week was a total fail on my part. I think once my scale stopped working I was in complete denial of how much I was overeating. Without the accountability of the daily "score" I get from the scale, I can't be trusted. I know this is bad thinking and I am going to work on fighting it.

In any case, the scale is finally working again and I am getting back on track.

Today I am thankful that despite the mistakes I made this last week, I did not let it put me in a shame spiral of self loathing. What happened, happened, and I am over it. Now I only look ahead to making better decisions this coming week.

I am thankful that if I had to cheat that I did it with foods that were thoroughly enjoyable and savored, and not just mindless snacking.

I really blew it on my vacation, too, and then continued when I got home. Doesn't it seem like once we give ourselves permission to eat when we are not hungry, and eat the foods we know won't help us lose weight, it just sort of spirals out of control. As much as I don't want to live by the scale, I think that, like you, I have to have that accountability. Mine is going with me on my next vacation.

They actually sell a travel digital scale, I believe its pink but they sell it on Amazon. I missed my digital scale when I was away in London and I relied on a spring loaded scale. Daily check-ins also help you see what works and what doesn't work. You didn't fail, failure only occurs when you give up...so don't give up, get back on that horse and watch those pounds fly by...

Sounds like your just dragging behind the wagon and have a good grip on the tailgate...so just hang on tight and pull yourself back up!!!!

My weight varies so much from day to day that I find using the diet calender a better way to stay on track. Recording everything I eat lets me know when I'm slipping. Your attitude is right on, shit happens and when it does you just regroup and start again.

On the bright side, I went to Lane Bryant to redeem those coupons I had and not all, but a bunch of the size 18's fit me. Once I get rid of all this water weight from the carb overload, I think I will be sitting pretty. Oh, and I forgot to mention that TOM is here, so that could be playing into the situation as well, not that I am making an excuse for what I know to do. I have lost weight on TOM weekends before, I just have stronger cravings at this time.
