DionneEvette's Journal, 27 May 2010

Last night my other half came home with Sweet Tea, Coca-Cola, Salt and Vinegar Chips, and Cinnamon Rolls (he is about 100 lbs overweight, has High BP, and Diabetic)! I had about 6 chips and felt really bad eating them. Just glad I didn’t eat the entire bag. What keeps me going are my children, I want to be healthy/live for them. Boy I’m happy I have you guys for support because I am not getting it at home.

Okay this may sound a little crazy to some of you but I have made it four entire days on my diet. I have cheated here and there (just a tiny-tiny bit) and forgot to eat some of the things on my menu. But……..I am so proud of myself, because I normally quit after a day or two, REALLY!

Not really looking forward to exercising, starting Sunday but hopefully that will change! I just have to find something that is not boring. My friend gave her Tony Little's Gazelle to me about a year ago. I guess I will use it now until I can purchase a good treadmill. I really love the boxing on the Wii EA Sports. I just need to find fun things to get into.

You should be proud of yourself!! I used to do the same thing! Quit after a day or two. Then I started taking it one day at a time. Then the next day came, and then the next until a whole 7 days went by without me cheating AT ALL. It took a lot of prayer and self-reflection. Everytime I wanted to cheat, I asked myself why should I eat this bag of chips or say yes to office birthday cake. If I couldn't come up with a reasonable answer (no "because I want to")within a minute, it wasn't worth it especially in the beginning when I was figuring it all out. You can do this! One day at a time, one decision at a time. :) As a wife and mother I'm sure that you don't have a lot of time to yourself, so look at exercising as YOUR time and you will start to look forward to it. :) Have a great day buddy! You're doing great! :)

Hello Dionne, Four days is amazing....I am so proud of you and you should be proud of you. Just take it one day and one meal at a time. Donnie said, "we fall down, BUT we get back up again." It's not about that little cheat it about those 6 chips you at INSTEAD of the entire bag. Rejoice in the victories and forget about the slips fall and hiccups. This is a lifetime change not a 6 week fix or a miracle cure. Everyday for the res of our lives will will be making choices, that is why I love calorie counting and exercise is something I can do for a lifetime. That big ol spaghetti dinner with cheese on top and garlic bread (two pieces) might look good smell good and SHOL NUFF taste good, but I want to eat for the rest of the day or just eat a fraction of the bread, a fraction of the bowl and load up on salad. It's all about moderation and like Mel said, you are going to look back and say, man I did not cheat today and you know what I didn't want to because nothing tastes as good as I want to look. Can I get a Amen?

Keep up the good work Dionne!!!! You can do :) And if Wii is what is fun to you look and see what other games they have. Exercise doesn't have to be brutal...take a walk around the block after dinner...it is the little things. Perhaps you can get your other half to join you...could be some time decompress and talk about your day??? And here is another AMEN for Steph!!
