I have failed once again in my quest to quit drinking soda. I don't know why it's so hard this time. I quit while pregnant 3 years ago with no issues. This time.... It's like deciding to jump off the cliff or get run over :( Every time I start wanting to quit its like I go into panic mode and that makes it even worse.... I'm not sure what to do. I guess soda is really an addiction for me. I can't seem to stop. I'm not sure what do drink, besides plain boring water. I can only choke down so much before I can't drink anymore.

What is driving your obsession to quit drinking soda? Since you're not showing it on your diet calendar, I am assuming it's diet soda? If it's not, you should be logging it, because there is a lot of sugar and useless calories in regular soda. There are lots of alternatives to soda, other than boring water - including soda water with lemon, flavored powders you can put into water, or even into soda water, iced tea (flavored, unflavored, with or without artificial sweeteners, Crystal Light, low cal juices, tomato juice. What is the real problem here?

Hmmm, good question. Wonder if it's the caffeine? Certainly diet soda has as much caffeine as regular. If so, maybe you could try cutting back a little at a time. If it's the sugar, then cold turkey is the way to go, at least for me. If you're drinking diet soda, you're not getting the sugar, and your body may be SEEKING the sugar it thinks is coming, thereby causing an increased craving. I read that somewhere...sorry I don't have a link for you. But, hang in there...there has to be a solution, you just haven't found (or felt it) yet. :)

I don't want either the caffeine or the bad sweetners that are in it (I drink diet). My main problem is the caffeine. I get very bad headaches if I don't get caffeine which makes me drink it more so I don't get a headache. The last time I tried to quit I went to fast and got sick. I'm going to go slower this time. I think I went to fast last time and my body wasn't ready.

The thing that helped me was drinking a LOT of water (like a gallon a day) and B-vitamins. The B-vitamins give me the energy I was missing when I stopped drinking caffeine. Also, you need to get enough sleep at night. Hope this helps and hang in there.

I quit diet sodas for awhile in favor of tea. I use those flavor teas. Love the peach and blueberry. I bought a Mr. tea machine and put it in the refrigerator after it finished. It does have caffeine but the best way is just to use tylenol and pull the band-aid off if it's that important. Just put it in your mind that's what's going to happen. Clean all of it out and don't buy anymore.
