Feeling extremely bad about my body. Went vegetarian 6 weeks ago and it has led to 5 lbs of gain. I feel sick about it. Ive always been too body conscious, but the fact that my clothes are tight makes me truly depressed. I spend the whole day thinking about the gym and how I can burn calories. This isn’t okay and I know it deep inside

I went through the same kind of thing before. You have already taken the first step. Make sure you count your calories and stay in a calorie deficit. If you do that, eat healthy, and drink plenty of water you will see some improvement. Also doesn’t hurt to get your body moving. Your body releases endorphins when you work out, even if it’s for 10 minutes. Try it out! You will feel better! Stay positive hun😊

maybe going vegan is not agreeing with your body and you are retaining water?? I find some foods do that to me.

Maybe just evaluate the type of food your eating, maybe while you trying to loose weight stick with protein, vegetables fruits dairy, leave out high fat, breads and processed foods for a few weeks, get the weight off first then add other foods in slowly, and drink a lot of water. And it doesn’t mater how much you work out if your not eating less than what your burning the scale won’t budge, been there and done that, there are a lot of good healthy foods. I don’t know what kind of vegan diet your on but shrimp and tuna are good proteins, and a lot of fishes are good, egg whites are good to for a Lower calorie protein

I stopped eating meat and chicken 6 months ago. Worked out like crazy didn’t loose and ounce. Ate way too many carbs and not enough protein. Changed that in June and lost about 15lb since. Try balancing your macros fat/protein/ carbs. And stick to being vegetarian if it makes you feel better but be mindful that a lot of vegetarian n vegan foods are highly processed unless you stick to whole foods only.

The gym is not the issue

Overeating is what is causing weight. Even if you are a gym addict if you do not control what you eat you will not lose weight

Lena gave you the best advice 🙌🏼😏

If you want to be vegetarian it’s ok, you just gotta research how to get protein as a Vegetarian (beans, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc can you eat dairy I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ but there’s plenty options. Just do your research 😉)

Thanks for the comments everyone! It’s nice to know that people care and take interest. To clarify on my post. I don’t go to the gym currently. That’s is likely the issue as to why i gained weight. My diet is good. Going vegetarian wasn’t a huge change for me because i eat lots of veggies and it has always been the main part of my meals. I had stomach issues the first 4 weeks of my transition due to too many beans lol. The issue is not eating too many refined carbs sugars and junk foods. It is simply not going to the gym, and likely a hormone imbalance due to getting off my birth control and not eating meat all happening in the same 2 months time frame. I plan on getting back into my workouts. I did a short 20 minutes session in my room last night. Sorry if I raised confusion about being a gym rat! Not the current issue!

No young lady the gym does not break or make weight loss, gain or maintenance

Nutrition is what dictates weight loss, gain or maintenance anyone that tells you nutrition is not the #1 is wrong and telling you lies

You gained weight it’s cause you have been eating too many calories (period)
