If you need a good eye roll have a look at this article:

http://thighgaphack.com/myth-women-cant-gain-muscles-deficit/

It’s basically states that if a woman has a moderate caloric deficit and works out she will gain ‘unsightly’ muscles. She needs to lower her protein because she doesn’t need 1g/lb of body weight. Pretty sure this was written by someone who was raised way back when... Give me those muscles! I don’t mind ‘skinny fat’ as I have been there and it’s better than just far on my small frame but I’d rather have ‘manly’ muscles ;). 💪 Actually want just enough to have decent definition when flexed 👍🤩.

We need muscles for solid health. Going for weak, to meet a questionable ideal of being weak, is hard to look up to. Think we have freedom to go with what makes us feel our best these days.

I felt that the tone of this article was for women to want to be ‘skinny fat’ and be leery of gaining any muscle. As you said, Diddlee, we need muscle. I wish articles like this weren’t put out to the masses. They aren’t giving correct information, more outdated I suppose you’d call it. I am not an expert by any means but I do know as you do that we NEED muscle. And again, I wouldn’t mind being skinny fat right now. It would be easier to gain the muscle I want I think 🤔.

Ha! crazy people. I posted a good article on protein on my journal the other day, a progressive study for maximizing your protein input. very informative. It suggests smaller amounts 4 times a day to maximize an internal chemistry. very interesting read. suggested protein levels for both training folks and non training folks. If you want to see a beautiful body of a young woman addicted to working out take a peek at my son's wife on facebook. Sophie Francis. It makes me want to be young again! I am totally envious. They jetski race and need to be in great physical condition.

Wait but exercise (weights) does not get rid of belly fat only a caloric deficit

But weights does mold/shape ur body

Baskington, I’ll have to do a FB search and look for your article :). The articles I’ve been reading seem to suggest about 30-40g of protein before workout, after and then 20-40 every few hours after that for those of us who go in the morning. Of course you adjust those numbers based on your weight/muscle mass. I find lean weight*1 works well for me as that’s about 100 and my range is 87-124 based on my research. The 100 is my minimum for lifting days. I will never become addicted because 1) I tend to get lazy when it’s cold and don’t like driving the half hour in on snow, ice or mud 2) my kids will get super active in about 3-5 weeks and 3) hubby starts his work trips in about 2 months. Those things limit what I can do in the fall, winter and spring.

Rosio, I was that way as a young adult. As a teen I was fairly strong but had no definition. Then work and family happened and I stayed smaller but got weaker. It’s taken 12+ years to gain 50#. Stress took it off once but I’d rather not go that route again (lost 3 parents in under 4 years).

https://www.otpbooks.com/mike-prevost-protein-muscle-hypertrophy/ By Mike Prevost I posted this a couple days ago when I read Toms article, I found some other articles that were interesting and this one got my attention. there were different testing methods and I think you will find it a good read. But they definitely recommend higher level of protein for the day split up into groups of 4 or 5 smaller gram counts to utilize the benefit of protein better.

Weights or even cardio does not get rid of belly fat. My trainer said only diet gets rid of stomach fat and love handles. My research suggests the same. However, weight and cardio do lose fat from all over at ‘approximately’ the same rate. Stomach fat just tends to be more stubborn for most and ‘hangs on’ longer and takes longer to get off. Everyone is a bit different. Normally when dropping a few pounds (I’m talking 2-10#) I would lose everywhere about equally then tummy last and a little bit on inner thighs. My 20+# so far has come off a bit more from outer thighs than anywhere else. My love handles aren’t losing equally and my inner thighs are rebellious and haven’t lost any that I can tell lol.

And in the interest of being completely honest here... I had fat grafting done back in April. First round. He took fat from my belly and placed some around my implants. He said he took a handful which would be around 1/4 to 1/2 a pound from what I can find on the subject. He told me ahead of time that he would take as much as he had time for BUT I had too much and I probably wouldn’t see much of a difference. Only 1/2 of that taken can be added back because they take out the impurities first. I looked 9 mo pregnant the day after and in a month I realized I still did have a ‘pooch’. I started more with cardio and it actually came off first! I believe by taking that small amount of fat from my tummy that it trippered fat necrosis OR my body decided to burn fat from there because it was still healing when I started working out again. So for the next round I thought about asking if he could take a tiny amount from love handles and thighs to see if that fat got burnt first when I start working out after that surgery 😳🤩

I do have muscles now , and I love them, of course I don't want to have them too big as a man's but I will not happen with a normal lifestyle 😀💪💪

What do u mean by 3 parents?

It's weird how even today some women get paranoid about looking "manish" or "bulky". It's very hard for most women to get "bulky". It doesn't happen over night either. You're not going to work out too hard and have too much protein and wake up super buff one day. It's so gradual. You can decide you have enough muscle and just maintain or even lose some if you wish.

Keilin, links don’t work in the app I think. It has to be manually entered into the search bar :/. I too want muscles. I’d love to look like an athlete just once but it’s not sustainable for me with 3 kids (4,9,12) all in sports and the oldest two in clubs, gifted program, ambassador, volunteers etc. I can squeak out 3-4 hours a week for myself but that’s it. You can’t maintain a body builders physique on that I’m sure. And it’s an hour round trip to my gym as we live in the country near a tiny town and the bigger towns are 25+ minutes away.

Rosio, I lost Dad fall 2011, Mom fall 2013 and my stepdad summer 2015. I now get highly anxious in odd years 😣. Kids were born even years so those years I don’t stress as much worrying about what’s going to happen for the worse. Dads girlfriend is still living but no contact as per her choice.
