My health insurance changed so I had to find a new doctor and get situated. I have no health issues other than being overweight. The last time I had a blood panel done was a couple of years ago and it showed that I was pre-diabetic at that time.

My new blood tests just came in and those sugary numbers have reversed! No threat of diabetes. No threat of thyroid issues (which run in my family). My cholesterols are out of whack, mainly because I eat too much fat (I'm a dairy queen).

So... my new goals are to continue my weight loss and try to resolve my cholesterol issues through diet. I resolved my high blood pressure a few years ago by reducing sodium (not just salt; sodium-rich foods as well) and was able to throw out my meds.

I am currently not on any medication but I take supplements for calcium/mg and a multi-vitamin. Since going on the multi-vitamin I have seen significant obvious changes in my nails and skin, so apparently there was some trace mineral I wasn't getting from food. I had been taking a hair/skin/nails formula for a couple of years that apparently did nothing!

I also take supplements specifically for inflammation: turmeric, fish oil, & yucca. I think they're doing less for me than clearing my diet of sugar and white carbs, so I'll finish out this series and just go... clean.

Some of you may remember my "pickle post" where I talked about how good my knees felt after eating sweet pickles. It turned out to be the vinegar in the brine so I bought the Bragg's vinegar (with the mother) and have been including it with my supplements in the morning. I'm not noticing any difference, and I really like sweet pickles, so I think there are going to be a few sweet pickles at every meal from now on.

Congratulations! You're seeing real, positive changes in your body, just based on the choices you make each day about what to eat. I'm really glad you posted this, because it's a great motivator for those of us at the beginning of the journey.

:) The nice thing for me was to see that my choices are affecting more than my weight. Yes, I'd like my weight to reduce and that's my primary goal, but the byproduct of no diabetes is really great! Seeing and feeling the way my body is responding to food has opened my eyes to the way I anesthesized myself with food. I ate a lot of bread, pasta, bagels, cupcakes... all sugar and white flour that converts to sugar. In my youth it was not a problem but I am far from my youth now! It's helping my sons to see their futures as well if they don't make some good changes in their own eating (which they have done). Hubby had a triple bypass some years ago and I've had my gallbladder out, so we had to get serious. Hubby's lost 30 pounds and I'm on my way.
