cjodyssey's Journal, 20 May 2018

It's getting to be a bit frustrating not being able to really measure my progress. It could be another three weeks before i get out and get to the hospital where they have a scale i can weigh on. I don't have a tape measure to fit around my waist and hips. I have very few clothes and what i have isn't structured enough to discern a difference.
I know I'm still losing but i don't know how well I'm losing so don't know if i should be doing something more, less, or differently, or if I'm doing extra well and should be patting myself on the back.

Be strong and keep your chin up! We all know how easy it is to gain weight quickly and taking it off takes a lot of effort. I have found the toughest thing throughout my life has been to maintain. I try not to set high goals and take 5 pounds at a time. You’ll do OK if you stick to a routine but sometimes you do have to adjust that routine. Good luck🌹

Cj— are you getting support from your medical community with helping you achieve your weight loss goals? Dietician?, nutritionist, weight loss program?. Because you have such a lot to lose I would hate to see you become frustrated and quit. For you particularly it iwould be so important that you have your health monitored. Are you following a particular way of eating or are you just trying to make it up as you go along? Have you done any research . I don’t obviously know anything about your insurance issues, but I would love to see you get some help so you have the best shot at success and still maintain your health. are you diabetic, or have a heart condition?

@Kenna I'm lchf. Would be more keto if i worked in more fat. Don't worry. I don't mean frustrating as in 'I'm on a diet i hate and if i don't lose a lot of weight I'm quitting'. I just like external validation and tweaking things but without recordable evidence in between times i can weigh, i don't get my feel good atta girls(smiles). Since I'm well past any carb withdrawal i might have had, I'm more than fine with this way of eating, which I've done before and lost close to 200 pounds with it before getting pregnant. There won't be much need to worry about me until i am able to drive again and go out alone again. I'll probably have to deal with some rebel selftalk then. But that's awhile away. My doctors know I'm losing weight but I'm not being monitored for it. I have a pretty extensive knowledge about health and nutrition from studying to be a physician's assistant, also from my mom's books and experience as a nurse for 35 years, to my own quest to find out what was wrong that caused me to be heavy from before i was even a year old. I'm not diabetic. I am insulin resistant and have pcos. I don't have serious heart problems but i do have higher than normal blood pressure and a tendency to get blood clots so i adjust my Coumadin to keep up with my vitamin k consumption since most low carb vegetables i really like are full of vitamin k. Thank you for being concerned about me.

My advice is follow a proven weight loss diet as close to it if possible or exactly. Even though weight loss is really confusing, following a diet responsibly will get you there. Remember we can't see changes every single. Week. Sometimes it happens surprisingly take care

I saw someone taking their measurements with a piece of string. Then taping the string to the wall to use as a comparison measurement. It might be something to try. It would give you an idea of your waist and hip losses. Give yourself that pat on the back! Your in a process that takes time and effort, be proud of your excellent progress and carry on. Best of luck to you!!

I haven't found any yarn here to use that doesn't stretch but I'll look some more. If they aren't too expensive i might be able to get a long tape measure from Amazon. Hadnt considered that. I know I'm losing weight. I just don't have a scale here that goes up to my weight. The hospital is the only place i know that has scales that weigh very heavy people. Thank y'all for your input and root for me all you want Kenna lol

As long as your burning more calories then you eat stay focused it takes time but you can make it!

Actually Amazon sells extra long measuring tapes and scales that go over 500 lb.

I'm on a fixed income so i can't get a scale and one long measuring tape is probably less expensive than two. At least i would think so. I'll have to have a look at them later.

I use a piece of non stretching string then measure it with a ruler.

If you can get to a Joann's Fabrics store or have someone stop there for you, they have 99 cent measuring tapes near the fabric cutting table. they are made in pretty colors of vinyl plastic. You could buy a couple and tape them together. Cut off what you don't need. You don't need those fancy, expensive ones just to measure yourself.
