STICKING TO MY GUNS..goood tuesday morning..i was told yesterday on my strava account that for me to increase my workout level..that eating an burning fat alone wont accomplish what im trying to do..that fat wont give me the energy source i need for the power to increase my ftp workouts..they suggested complex carbs..something that i just dont go along with..why cant people look at lchf with an open mind..instead its o no that wont work..you got to have carbs to burn for energy..well..i have a 10-12 week workout to get thru an today was day 3 of my first week..

i wake up at 330am most days..set up fitness room..get laptop and fans on to use as im riding on bike/trainer..then walk into kitchen an get protein/creatine set up ..walk back into bedroom an get riding clothes on..walk back into kitchen drink just enough coffee with the protein/creatine mixture..get water bottle with fizz-electrolytes...an head to fitness room...all of this having been fasting since 2pm day before..by time i get on bike an start my workout its 5am..do an hour workout an then change into dry clothes..an journal for the morning...usually dont eat breakfast till around 7am or so..let body burn as long as it can after the workout..

i emailed my nutritionists/food coach yesterday telling asking her about using complex carbs..just to see what she thought..she to is on lchf an has been for years with great success as is her husband an her sister that owns a gym in the east...here is my nutritionists response to my email yesterday..

Hi Mike! It's great to hear from you. Thanknyou fpr the kind words.

Sorry, I have been swamped lately. You had mentioned a protein powder a while back. My husband and I use Quest protein. I am so glad you are finally having some success and trust...with the high HEALTHY fat content of your diet....avacados rock! I eat one almost everyday.

Higher intensity workouts, should be a slight struggle to get through. If you do them right, your body should be grandly fatigued.

You do NOT need carbs for energy or a fuel source. The only essential macros that the body needs are fats and proteins. However, a complex carb that has awesome nutritional benefits, is green leafy spinach leaves. I know, I know, yuck spinach, right?

My husband is NOT a fan of spinach....but loves this shake. In a high-powered blender, like a Vitamix, add....
- 1-2 cups of leafy green spinach
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of cream
- a tablespoon of cinnamon
- a little bit of no-sugar sweetener
- 1 tablespoon of almond butter
- 1 scoop of Vanilla Quest Pro Powder

Blend, until it is pureed and looks like a green shake, but tastes great. Lol! Here is the nutrients....remember you do NOT count Fiber-carbs, so subtract the fiber.

If you are curious, and just want to peek...here is the link to my online ORDER FORM for my Fresh-Frozen Slow-Cooker Entrees and Treats. My chicken breast entrees feed 4-6 people and are $20.

Hi….wish we could get together again for another sit down…I miss you coming over an giving pep talks an recipes….ive started eating advocadoes for the fat content to get my fat up…yes I started eating more calories…more fat…more fiber…and low an behold I’m releasing weight instead of inches for a change…my food coach told me it would help…but I for some reason didn’t listen when I should have…calorie intake is 1950 or so….

I’m down to 277.2 and have been droppin lest a pound every day I workout on the next day that I weigh in…I’m amazed that increasing my calories would work the opposite of what I thought…but so far I’m seeing results…

Here is my question…
question for you...when you have time.....ive started doing ftp workouts on zwift...to build up legs hopefully...an to trim everything else....it was suggested to me by someone that my eating low carb high fat wont provide the energy I need to carry thru with the higher intensity workouts...shey suggested complex carbs..give me ideas of what I could eat...

Thanks as always…

im not looking for complex carbs to get me thru my workouts..but at times when im confronted with o you need carbs to get you thru your workouts..then i have a relapse into thinking i need carbs to get me thru a high intensity workout which is what my workouts are now..after i got done with day 3 of my workouts...it was nice to know that i didnt have to rely on carbs to get me thru the workout...im all smiles knowing that the way i eat is working for my body..we all have to find what works for us an use it for a healthier us..not everyone gains from eating like i do..an i know that an they need to know that as well..its a matter or reading an learning an taking what you learn and applying it to your case...

HAVE A GREAT TUESDAY...

You don't need them but they have been proven to be a superior energy source and when protein and calories are equated, the same amount of body fat is lost so why not go with the optimal source of energy? I personally don't care if they are complex or simple as I need my fruit. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for sharing what you are doing, Wannbe! Awesome info. You go! Now I need to add at least half an avocado to the mix.
