Katsolo's Journal, 17 April 2021

Had a really good swim this afternoon, not sure if I turned it up one or two notches, but I did it and I held my own. Going for a walk next and will ponder the next big decision on my plate.

832 strokes, first 500 were at the slower speed so this will go up tomorrow. 149 average heart rate, 10.5 METs. Spend 9 minutes in warm up, 9 in cardio and 11 in peak. kinda perfect. very happy with the day.

so, after the exercise stuff, the big question is whether to cut a year's worth of growth off my hair next month. it's a lot of hair, it's a pain in the butt, it looks light in the pic, but that's the light, it's very much a dark brown and this is not max curly, it's at about 50% of what it can do on its own. decisions, decisions. I used to keep it around my shoulders and now it hits just past the middle of my back.

Awesome swim! I was told you were the other swimmer here. I'm trying to get a cheap tracker for swimming. I never gave any idea of my stats and it's soooo frustrating. lol

Aye, mami! Looking good. Do. Not. Cut. A woman's hair is never too long, too curly, or too wild. Obviously. Unless, of course, you're targeting the millennial basement dwellers quarter squatting bouncy plates in the fancy rack with their special people shoes and their pink water... That would be an entirely different matter.

Your hair looks beautiful, Kat! My decision would depend on what you answer: Do you like yourself now better than before? And, does it take too long (for your standards) to do in the morning?

I think I'm going to start with two inches and adding some long layers. You all are right, I can always go back. Not doing bangs again for awhile. I'll post a full ringlets pic one day, I can literally lose a comb in there. Thankful I didn't shave my head (thought about it) and that I made it past the "cut your own lob". I did buy some haircutting scissors, so I was serious, but I hated having my hair cut outside and I wasn't going back until things were more normal. Normal being a relative term. For those asking about tracking swims, calories, etc., I use an Apple Watch 5. Details in my bio. It counts strokes and distance and can do open water. It also tracks heart rate. The stats you see in this post are from an app called "Zones" which takes the same data and compiles it in ways I find more useful, including calculating METs. For the uninitiated, you do not need to be in the upper tiers on heart rate starting out, just keep moving. The METs and heart rate together let me know when I need to work harder. Finally, at the bottom of the apple website, there is always a refurbished/clearance section. Same warranty as new, save some coin.

Don't cut it, Kat!!! It's beautiful!!! Just trim it and keep it looking healthy like the rest of you. Stay sexy, safe, and keep swimming. I wish I had a pool. I have the entire ocean though. Happy Sunday Funday!!! :)))

I was thinking if cutting my hair short again, but we will be in L.A. in a couple of weeks for a visit and by the beach, so I decided against it. Out here in NM it gets so dry that my curl doesn't last long. I live in two completely different hair worlds. 😉😄🙋‍♀️

Looking great Kat !! I'd say leave your chips on the table and a grow it out another year. You can always cut it ...

You look beautiful and I love your hair. Mine is fine and straight, perfect for the 60s when I wore it down to my butt, LOL! One good thing about hair is that no matter what you do (within reason) it will always grow back. Long, short or in-between, do whatever feels right for you. 💛

I am biased toward long hair (love it on both women and men) and natural looks, but I do agree with most that too drastic a cut is hard to recover from. I used to dye my hair (at one point it was a horrid red that didn't suit me at all) and then I had to cut so much of it off. It is now extremely long but took several years to reach my waist which is where I like it. Depends on your personal preferences and lifestyle though.

LC, i used to color my hair all the time. Then, i did something wrong, it turned black, and i had to strip it. That ruined it completely, so i shaved it off ala Annie Lennox. Which was its own kind of awesome, but cold in the winter. I’ve been pretty boring since then because of work.
