peeperjj's Journal, 28 April 2019

I measured around 7.5 weeks ago. Today I found out I lost 3” overall. Half of that was from my waist alone! I hadn’t noticed that area shrinking but get the ‘love handles’ were growing and the belly was softer. Perhaps the love handles have stayed the same but look and feel bigger because the waist is smaller! My love handles sit right above my hip bones and I measure my waist across the belly button. Trainer measured over my ribs which is actually where I would measure my bra band. That’s not my waist ;). My arms are the same but the flex is a bit smaller maybe 1/8-1/4” less. They are tighter than I remember and the tricep is starting to slightly appear. I think I’ve lost a tiny bit of fat from that area and that’s why the tiny change in flexing. Now I have my numbers for ‘beginning weight training’ so I can remeasure next month.

I always forget to measure before I start because I'm never sure if I'm going to stick with it. The one thing I can't figure out is, as I NEVER give shoes away, just clothes, where are my skinny shoes?? I'm not skinny of course but my feet are less bloated and all of my shoes are Slippy. Is that a word. Slippy?

Thanks Jan!

Bella, I believe the word you are looking for is loose. You may have not lost any weight in your feet before. I noticed that my medium width shoes were cutting into my feet pre diet. Now some of my tennis shoes feel loose. Thankfully I went with those stretchy laces so can just adjust them. They have narrow, medium and wide widths for shoes. You may have to try some on and see if you need some new ones. If they have laces you can buy stretch laces at Academy Sports for $5. Then just adjust them tighter as you lose weight in your feet or loosen them up if your feet swell from being on them too long.

Awesome progress! It has to be encouraging.

Great work Peeperjj! I just use my navel for a 'landmark' for consistency, and try to keep the tape level all the way around. Not actually my waist but close to the 'point of most protrusion' if I don't consciously suck in my gut or flex my abs. Visceral fat is a real problem for me. Fantastic what you have accomplished in 7.5 weeks!

LOL - you're trying to get me in sneakers so I'll walk or run, aren't you? Subtle but cute. Nah, I'm talking about my leather sandals or pumps. I do have sneakers / walking shoes/ whatever you kids call 'em these days. I wore a pair yesterday and they fit fine thanks to the laces.

Lol Bella I hadn’t thought about that. But suurrreee I was trying to get you to walk more ;). Let’s go with that 😁. If you lived close then yes I might say it for those reasons as I want a walking partner and nobody I know wants to or has time to. Not much you can do with leather shoes unless you want to soak them in water then wear them until they dry. That helps cowboy boots stretch and old to your feet so they don’t hurt as long. But it hurts while they dry on your feet.

Thanks Snow! Thanks D! Yes it is encouraging as it wasn’t planned for or expected in the least!

Thanks Tom! I’m technically at maintenance now and a little more as I’m just starting to try to gain muscle again. Several of those weeks I was in maintenance for sure or what I thought was maintenance. Weight maintained but waist lost some I guess. I use the naval too. Any higher and I can’t bend in jeans. I actually prefer jeans 1-2” below naval because it allows me the most unrestricted movement but if they get baggie then I have to change jeans or risk mooning the neighbors who drive by when I’m doing yard work lol. I believe I lost it from my back as I noticed a gap between me and the tape measure that wasn’t there the last time I measured. Visceral fat for me isn’t an issue. Started with a 5 or 5 last summer and I’m at 4 now. I would like to see a 2-3 though. Hubby does have an issue with it. I’m doing my best to help him understand how important it is to lose it. I don’t care if he has a belly but I care that the visceral fat will eventually cause major health issues. High blood pressure and heart problems on both his mom and dads sides and both have larger stomachs. Even after they lost weight. I need to research the causes and better ways of reducing it. Thanks for the reminder!

Yeah I thought about that - soaking them and letting the leather dry and 'unstretch' (I just like using weird words on your journal I guess, LOL).

Shrink? Lol. I normally have issues with finding the right words so you are giving me practice that I sorely need!
