66Pack's Journal, 15 November 2018

Ok so I’ve held off trying to know just what to say and how to put this.. I feel the need to caution FS friends on a journey to loose substantial amounts of weight, even with Dr supervision.
A friend I had the privilege of knowing for just a short time has passed away. 🙏🏼 ✝️ He started his struggle with weight loss at nearly 450 pounds and with Dr permission, started an aggressive weight loss program. $$$ was not a factor here and he could spend all the $$ for what we thought were the best Doctors and programs. Unknown to us, his previous weight condition had already caused some enlargement of his heart. He was given the ok and was told he was ready to undergo removal of excess of skin and tissue along with extensive liposuction. Apparently this causes increased pressures on the heart and after 2 weeks of recovery / drain tubes removed etc he was found unresponsive from cardiac arrest.

Just a word of caution to those attempting to loose weight quickly and to the loved ones of those undergoing this major life endeavor. Go slow! Let your body adapt and adjust slowly to these major physical changes!!!! Good Shedding! Be Blessed!

Sorry for your loss. Your warning is a good one. I was on a doctor's supervised program, Professional weight management, and I spent a lot of money. It's a low carb, high protein diet. I had to give up all fruit until I got close to my goal weight. I spent Labor Day in the emergency room. I'm told that I'm lucky to be alive. After an MRI, EKG, cat scan, x-ray and blood work, the only thing they found wrong was that my potassium was extremely low. I had no warning signs. I fell in the pasture, hitting a metal pipe and just missing a cement block with the side of my head. the emergency room visit cost in excess of $7K and I have a scar over my right eye as a reminder. Of course, the owner of the business is claiming that it's my fault but I followed their diet and lost 33 lbs. Beware of any diet that excludes bananas...
