SoCalPam's Journal, 20 August 2018

Visit with the doc today to discuss future treatment for my knees. Both of them blew out (ligaments) in October, but my left has seemed worse; more painful. I think there's more going on there. Doctors at my old practice said to "rest" and prescribed PT, which I did. I also bought a stationary bike (which I use!) and lost 20 pounds. No difference in my knee pain. I have reduced wheat and sugar; no difference. My doctor said that knee pain is a sign of age; she has it too; whattareyagonnado?

I have a new doctor and a new practice now :) THAT'S what I'm going to do. Today I had x-rays (again) and we'll see if there is anything obvious (there will be mild arthritis, but not enough to contribute to the symptoms I'm having). Then I'll finally get an MRI.

I found the DDPY yoga online, and have been looking at their videos and testimonials. They have an adaptive course for people who have difficulty with mobility and I think it may be a place for me to start. I'm mobile enough, but can't get down and up from the floor without assistance. Plus, I don't want to exacerbate anything going on in my knees. My (new) doctor agrees.

We'll see if there's anything really wrong and go from there. If an MRI doesn't show any major problems I'll suck it up and keep moving on with my life. I sure don't want another year like the last one, though.

Arthritis is the worst. Not really a lot that can be done for it. I have some in one of my big toes - the pain flares up daily.

Knee pain isn't just automatic as you age! Good for you for going to a new doc for another opinion - wishing you the best news for it.

I do have wrists pain, and I don't have a doctor , but when I googled it most information says it is due to aged, it's 20s that old? I have been doing IF around 5 months this year, and my wrists are getting better 😀. Youtubers claim that FASTING works

I wish you well. I lived with knee pain for years. Not fun and debilitating. So glad your seeking answers and a remedy for pain relief. Mine wasn’t the same scenario as yourself; I had arthritis. Today I have a “new knee”. Renamed my “bad knee” after a total knee replacement LOL

I do keto and IF. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and knee pain from a sever break in 2003. Changing my eating habits has been the only thing that helped with pain. Of course docs prescribed high dose pain meds and steroid shots that would help, but I didn't want to become a med addict.

Keilin— I don’t know how old you are or what kind of work you do but in regards to your wrist pain, look up De Quervain’s tendinitis and see if that describes your symptoms. It affects the tendons of the thumb so the pain is usually right at the wrist at the base of the thumb. it is basically an overuse condition that causes swelling and pain. It can heal itself with time, wrist support and gentle physical therapy. sometimes a surgical release is required.

I hope you find answers in the MRI and if they can't find anything then it may be something you can adjust in your diet. good thing is you log your food and you can track if you have good days and bad days with the knee pain. It helps to find the issue if it is food related. You found your refined flour issue.

You might want to check out the "Pain Free" books by Peter Egoscue. Helps to understand physiology and seems to make sense. Best,

@notpossible- does the book offer any cures along with the explainations, or tips?

I'm pretty sure something's going on with the meniscus in my left knee. It's torn or chipped or something. The other pain is likely the ligaments, which I wrecked with overuse. Kenna, I agree with you about the tendonitis. Or it could be carpal tunnel. I've had that surgery on both wrists and it's like I'm a new woman!
