marleymom's Journal, 25 July 2007

I have been on LAWL since June 14th. As of today, July 25th, I have lost 16 pounds and 16 inches. I know I should be proud of myself because I have worked very hard the past 38 days, but I am also sad because I am still larger than I have ever been. I lost about 50 pounds when I turned 40 (almost 6 years ago) and I vowed I would never gain it back. Well, my 46th birthday is next month and I gained it back plus another 20 lbs. Before I did not do it healthfully. I did Slim-Fast and took Metabolite with ephedra. I know, stupid! But I lost 50 pounds over the course of a year. This time I am trying to lose it with LAWL and do it right. I joined for one year so that when I DO lose it I can learn how to maintain the weight loss. It is just so frustrating to be going around the same mountain again!

Hey Marleymom. You can do it! I think LAWL is good because they really teach you about food selection and portion control. Best wishes on your journey back down the mountain.... Thanks for adding me to your buddy list. Ciao ~Nettie~

Hello there Marleymom. I can really relate to your frustration as to your weight gain. I lost about 30 pounds 2 years ago did well for a long time then got pregnant with our third child and gained. We have a new beautiful baby boy named Samuel who was born January 31st. He was well worth it. I went back to LAWL mid June and have lost 10 pounds so far. I am trying to maintain a positive attitude and lose weight the right way. It's tough but we can do it. Keep up the good work. It sounds like you are doing well. Thanks for adding me to your buddy list. If you need support let me know.

Marley Mom, please do not beat yourself up over this. I did the same thing....I lost 50 over a year on sugar busters and gained all plus ten back over two years. I am doing LAWL for the long term now. If this does not work then the last resort would be surgery, and I am so not going there. I think over the time I will be at LAWL, 90 weeks + and also one years follow up, hopefully something should sink home, and when I am that tiny I don't think I ever will want to be this big again. I am reading lots about people who have kept their weight off long term. It is my goal and my prayer that I finally will be able to do it. I am mostly doing this for my longterm health, although I guess the looks will eventually be a benefit as well. The main thing to remember is that this is not a diet but a life style change and that for me it will probably be a life long thing. I wish you well in your journey. There is good support here and you CAN do it. Do it slowly and thoughtfully with a longterm goal in mind. :-D

Marleymom, I agree with the ladies. Also, if weight loss was easy there would be no LAWL, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers etc. The point is that you joined LAWL because you wanted to lose the weight in a healthy long term manner and you will. Weight gain doesn't happen over night nor will weight loss. You'll do fine, hang in there. Andrea
