Hi...intermittent fasting...sometimes I may not eat breakfast till 10 or 11...that would be 13 or 14 hrs in between eating...how does that sound? And then would still eat lunch and dinner?

I’ve been doing lchf since January 8 and I’m down close to 19lbs...I got stuck for a while and tried intermittent fasting which helped at first, then the body adjusted and slowed again. I then tried lowering my carbs to 20 total not net and lowering protein and upping my fats—that has also helped. I’ve stalled again this week so going to mix things up again! It’s difficult for me to eat a lot of fat and lower protein but when I raise my fats I lose. Got to keep our bodies guessing! Check for hidden carbs in things your eating. Try cutting out all sweeteners for a week! Hope this helps. Good luck!

509, you want to keep proteins at about 18-22% of what you eat. Healthy fats are the highest, and try not doing net carbs. I count total carbs and keep my total carbs to 20g or less a day. As far as the IF, a good time would be no eating for 16-18 hours and then keep your eating window from 8-6 hours. Eat two good meals in that time frame that add up to the calories your eating per day. When the eating time frame is up, stop eating. Also, you want to IF 2-3 days a week to start, not necessarily every day. I do 3-4 days a week and that helps me. I have a weekly calorie goal so some days I eat less, and other days I eat a bit more, depending on my activity level, but my overall for the week is a constant. I hope any of this info helps you!

Thank you Jennifer and momma...so how many carbs does a total of 20 mean? And how many calories are you all eating...this is starting to seem harder as I learn more. TIA

I find I do not lose unless I keep my carbs to 20grams or less when I am doing low carb. But everyone is different. Keep up the good fight!

I don't subtract fiber to get net carbs. All carbs count so that's what total carbs is. I have days I go a bit higher, but not more than 25 and only about once a week. For me, this works great. It is a learning thing, and you have to find what works right for your body. At first I was keeping calories to about 1100-1300 but that was too low. I upped my daily goal to 14-1500 and my body is liking that. If I stall, I mix things up and within a week or so I start dropping weight again. Good luck to you!

I think it’s been answered but 20g carbs is total carbs—nothing subtracted. My goal is to stay close to 20g. I try to keep my protein close to 50g and my fats closer to 115-130g. I average about 1350 calories intake a week but I think I need to up this to around 1500. I’m still trying to figure it all out! Haha it’s a guessing/learning game to see what works best for your body.

I usually have first meal between 1 and 2 pm, no food after 8pm. Stay away from breads, white rice, potatoes and use super low carb whole wheat Extreme wraps. try not to eat too many fruits. I started the intermittent fasting recent after learning about it. I do it for awhile to change things so my body doesn't get used to it. same w excersise. I walk on all the nice days 5-8 miles a day. Just started Body Groove dance video Very cool and I got sweating. Do Zumba, treadmill, free weights....I rotate all this to confuse this crazy body. I am determined to get back in the groove of healthy living and eating. I had A-Fib October and put on meds that really pooped me out, I am still on one plus a blood thinner but feel a lot better. I appreciate reading everyones messages. Tons of good info and support.Thank you
