Multiplicity1's Journal, 29 March 2010

Today is a much better day. Thanks to lots of support and some advice to stop whining and put my big girl panties on I am back on track.
Today's task in the Beck Diet Solution was to arrange your environment. The author suggests you give away or throw any problem foods or if that is impossible (for example if your spouse refuses) to at least put them as far from sight as possible At work she suggests you request the cafeteria offer some healthy food options, ask coworkers to put junky foods out of sight and you will post a note telling where to find them or for you to buy opaque gift jars for those who have candy jars on their desks. I only had one thing left in my house that was tempting and that was popcorn boxes. Since they don't tempt me much at all and they are way up on top of the refrigerator I decided they could stay because my daughter eats them. But if I start wanting them I am throwing them out!
I am still practicing every meal to eat slowly and mindfully and eat sitting down. I am writing lists of eating and exercises behaviors twice a day that I give myself credit (w/stickers) for doing. I am in regular contact w/my coach and w/my online friends.
I am going to walk 45 minutes tonight. I forgot to write that I lost 3 lbs. this week which is great! I am only 1 lb. from being the lowest I have been on Atkins this time. I am starting Induction over again. I am going back to net carbs as of today. I need to be getting more fiber in my diet. My goal for the next two weeks is to lose 3 lbs. and to walk 45 minutes at least 5 days every week. I am also going to start working out as of tomorrow at the Y. I bought some new workout DVD's today. 2 of the ones I bought the other day were Pilates and I don't think I'm ready to try that yet. I got some dance cardio DVD's today.
I am re-reading the new Atkins book as part of starting Induction over. Today is Day 1 for me. I am exactly 20 lbs. less than when I started on Atkins 50 days ago.

Hey, it's me again...I just wanted to say, GREAT JOB!!! maintaining your focus. Looks like you got your panties back up where they belong. LOL. Seriously though, it takes a lot to commit to making lifestyle changes. and although I started at 200, I have a cousin who started with me at the same time, also on Atkins and she was 260. We have both been at this since Jan. She is doing remarkably well - once she figured out what she could eat - what of those things she liked, she just repeated the same 7 day menu. She made this up herself - but it took a lot of the confusion out of shopping in the beginning. Plus - she started at the gym - faithfully - walking. Now to hear her tell it, "if I'm lying, I'm dying..." she thought she was going to die. But she went every day. Started out very slow on the treadmill - and has inched her way up speed wise, and incline wise - and then takes a brief nightly walk 45 min's after dinner. She is very committed. And it is paying off! She is almost to the 200 mark! So, whatever you do, don't give up - (oh, and we both had to start over in the beginning because we really didn't know what we were doing...and hadn't read the book.) There is so much help and support on this site...if you ever feel down, be sure to give me a hollar! I'll be thinking of ya...:)

Wow! Twenty pounds in 50 days!! I think that's wonderful! I've been at this since the end of Dec. and am only down 14 lbs. I think you're doing an amazing job. And I hope you like your DVD's. I wouldn't say I LOVE mine, but they do seem to keep me moving and I bought several and rotate them or do a level or two from two or three of them each day. I was heartened to see the outpouring from you journal entry yesterday. See? People care : )

Yes. I can really see from the outpouring yesterday that a lot of people care and are willing to reach out and take time to offer advice and support. It made all the difference. Losing 3 lbs. helped too. They said on atkins.com that you lose more on a full moon and apparently today is a full moon so that must have helped!

omg Andrea you are really just moving aren't you. I can see your panties are pulled up and you are determined to do it..we are and we will. I will make the same goals for this week..1 1/2 lbs 3 for the two weeks of Induction and walk 45 minutes a day at least 5 days a week. I think 20 lbs in 50 days is great, we all have those days when we want to throw in the towel and then the sun comes out and everything is right with the world..dont you love those days.. :)

Well done Andrea! I know what you mean about food in the house. I have biscuits in for my kids -now I get custard creams cos I just don't ever fancy them - on diet or not. I wouldn't keep chocolate digestives in the house! I am finding easter hard too - all this chocolate about. Is it the same in the U.S? Easter eggs everywhere. I am thinking of asking my mum to keep the kids eggs at her house. They are always on my mind and I am eating more atkins bars because of it!

Great job sweetie, you are doing very well. I love just how positive you sound today. Since I am the only person in my home that is following Atkins, and there are 4 that are not, I find it hard to rid the cupboards of their foods. Instead I am just trying to find them healthier choices. I always try to fill the fridge in my office w/ several meals and snacks and keep canned green beans and canned tuna in my desk drawer for emergencies. Just think after walking 45 minutes daily for the next week, you should be sweating off those lbs. Great job - keep it up!

Thanks for the comments everyone! I don't have little ones in the house so no Easter stuff anymore - Thank God! Ask your mum to help w/those eggs jill-gill.
