moogiemynes's Journal, 13 February 2018

When I was in college forty years ago, geology was my focus. Every frustrated archaeologist turns to geology as a career. I turned to Cartography. Geology and archaeology became my hobbies. Therefore, I realized that for about twenty years, I was living in areas that had been sculpted by glaciers. Some of these places, like Colorado and Alaska still have them. Unlike a river, the movement of a glacier cannot be observed on a lazy afternoon. It has to be recorded. The evidence of movement can be seen in the U-shaped valleys and fjords that glaciers leave behind.

Our diets are not rivers. They are glaciers. We cannot see the results minute by minute, but after enough time, like a month or two, we notice the need for new clothing and how much easier it is to get in and out of the car! If you are frustrate with the slowness of your weight loss, remember that the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia was not carved in a day! If you are doing everything "right", then you will get results.
