Eating when hungry VS Eating when I should (3 Main meals and 2 Snacks a day).

**I hardly have appetite and don't get hungry a lot, so if I were to eat when im hungry I would properly eat 2 times a day especially if I had breakfast. The dilemma here is I find myself having to force myself to eat because I read and heard some people say that when you donot eat enough your body would go to starvation mode and would slow down your metabolism. Please help me with the best option?

Your body only goes into starvation mode when you are on a CRaP diet (Calorie Reduced Plan, i.e low carb, low fat, etc.). If you are doing Banting, or Paleo type diets, your body won't go into starvation mode, because it gets its energy from gluconeogenesis (energy from fats & protein). Prof Tim Noakes emphasizes the "only eat when hungry"... In other words, the starvation mode theory is old school. Dr Jason Fung has a whole blog that explains all of this in layman's terms. If you are interested, here is the website: //intensivedietarymanagement.com/how-do-we-gain-weight-calories-part-1/ - just copy & paste in your google bar. Another website to check out is Diet Doctor.com. I'm on 1 meal a day since May this year & have not gone into starvation mode, in fact, I've lost 5 kg. I hope this helps!

P.s: A lot of us are on Intermittent Fasting diets, where we only eat 2 times a day, and no snacks in between.

Hi Samykm I agree with Leksie I also don't do snacking anymore and 2 meals are always sufficient I can't remember the last time I had breakfast in the last 4 months I always have something to eat around 11 or 12 as the first meal of the day and I've also lost around 7kg since then. So give the read a try, it's a very good read 👍

Breakfast in the morning triggers digestion and then that causes you to get hunger pangs during the entire day. This causes us to constantly eat and snack. Skip breakfast by having just water, coffee/tea, green tea. IF having tea/coffee, you need to use a sweetener like canderal and not sugar. Also use very minimal milk. The aim is to keep your morning extremely low calorie so you don't trigger the digestion process. Before you know it, its midday and you can eat :)
