I am trying to gain weight! LOL, well its true, I am pregnant and trying to gain a healthy amount of weight during this pregnancy. My doctor told me that I should be eating about 2,500 calories a day. I have spent so much of the past 7 years of my life eating around 1,200 calories a day that this seems impossible to me. I am going to eat as much as I can but I don't want to gain 40 lbs that I am going to have to lose. I started at 137 and I am 14 weeks today and weigh 139.4. I have only gained 2.4 lbs. But I did have some pretty severe food aversions the first trimester. Hoping that I can move past that and gain a healthy 1lb a week.

Diet Calendar Entry for 13 October 2009:

Doctors are not always perfect - your doctor might not have any idea how much you eat now, and is thinking you should add 500 calories a day. If you are hungry, eat something, you'll be fine. You should add: regular milk instead of non-fat, don't eat splenda just use regular sugar. You will start to gain very fast now - the last 8 weeks you will gain 8 pounds! The baby usually gains a pound a week at the end. Most doctors say eat normally, don't restrict. 2500 is way too much - just eat some healthy extra snacks, maybe 500 or 600 calories extra per day. Good luck!

Thanks abbadabba, I think 2500 is way too much as well. There is no way I could do that without eating chocolate cake all day LOL and I am trying to still eat healthy with fruit and water etc..
