I'm a mess! I'm not cheating and I'm still doing all the work to achieve my goals of being more fit healthier and feeling good about the image in the mirror BUT
2 Fridays ago my, senior citizen, law abiding, civic minded, hard working roommate/friend of 10+ years and basically benefactor was arrested being held for extradition to another state.
I called him my benefactor because I'm living rent-free. I buy groceries and prepare our food. I keep the house clean. I take care of his cats and I'm a pretty good friend. (not in the biblical sense)
I am poor only getting a small SSI and the rent's going to be due in less than 2 weeks.
I had my van life dream but I only just started saving.
I've been selling everything I own. I've been being a good friend and visiting him while he's in the county jail every two days.
I'm so stressed I'm surprised I'm not downing cokes and eating my snacky snacks!
I'm not letting my clock run out. I'm doing everything I possibly tend to scramble money up to buy some $1,000 van so at least I'll have a place for the cats and myself.
arggg!
the roommate told me to list his car. I did. crickets.
and it's a nice car!
I know I'll make it through this. I really don't have a choice! it's that of homelessness and I'm just too old for that.

I can relate. I have been almost homeless more than once. Not due to my own actions but something similar to yours. Depending on undependable people. Other dependable people saved me. I lucked out. I hope you find someone who can do the same for you. Sent a prayer.

Thanks Morticia. You know this person was/is/has been a good friend to me when I was down on my luck. He's been a mench since I've known him, but I've only known him 10 years people have a past. It's looking more and more like they'll release him but he's already lost his jobs. I'm just going to keep working towards my goal. If I have to buy a mini van instead of a high top so be it. 😂 I'm crafty creative and resourceful! The universe will provide if I work hard enough!

Angel, if you can do it (I know it's difficult to ask others for assistance) don't forget that many churches in your area will be willing to help you if you ask and take your bills/rent statement to them. This is normally a once a year service but this sounds like a circumstance which will certainly qualify and not one that happens very often so it certainly be a once a year type of situation in my opinion. In addition it might benefit you to call upon the food bank, yes I know it's quite embarrassing to do so. But reducing your food cost for the month would allow you to put back some of your income towards other bills) emergency provisions if necessary. Due to these emergency circumstances you could apply for emergency EBT it's a pain in the bum, stressful, and it takes quite a few hoops to jump through, but once again due to the circumstances it might be worthwhile to check it out. I hope everything works out for the best but if it doesn't this would give you a little bit more money to work with and a little bit more security as well. It wouldn't be comfortable but in a pinch you could always stay in a women's shelter as well it's safer then the street if it was ever to come to that. Also I hope everything works for your friend it sounds they are now a good person regardless their past they have been a good friend to you and those close to them and that means something. Keep us in the ➿ loop.

I usually don't respond to what I read. Looking into emergency housing Section 8- HUD and such. Did he have money put away towards this months rent. Ask him other questions if you can. I know how it feels. My ex was a complete well lets be nice... I was always afraid of being homeless.

Prayers Angel. To show solidarity I want you to know I've been there. When I was 15 (farming state) I purchased a 58 Chevy Delray for $75 that I lived in. Took the back seat out and filled the floorboard with rolled newspapers to make it flat enough for a bed. Kept a cooler and Coleman stove in the trunk. Drove out to a creak in the woods most nights to get safely out of the city for sleep. Worked two jobs and went to school. Showered each day in gym class, played football and was SPL of my Boy Scout Troop. Tried my best to live like others without them finding out. Everyone knew me for who I was when in their one place. No one put my whole life together to see my real life. We can do what we must to do when we have to do it. You are stronger than you think. You can do this. You are already much smarter than I was by reaching out to others. Now you have a plethora of prayers. You have heard good advice and support. There will be more. More answered prayers, more support, more advice, more solutions. This must be solved. This is what I think of as do or do-do time. Do something, anything, and keep doing non-stop because if you stop doing then life is do-do. Stay in touch!

Oh honey. I'm so sorry. I've never used them but have seen ads for Carvana. They ask you some questions, quote you a price, then come pick it up. I hope everything works out for you. 🙏🏿

Thank you for everybody who's commended and great advice from people who have been there done that! I'm selling everything I can. I just post stuff for sale all day long and have people come and take my stuff away for $5 $10 $20, $100 and so on It's weird because I was planning on " Van life" for my next chapter anyway but now I'm under pressure and threat of eviction! (Good thing is it's not my name) Also a bad thing because it's hard to get help if you're not on the lease. I haven't been able to scroll FS and like and comment and support because I'm so busy trying to scrape up some money to be okay when the shtf! Thank you for all your well-wishing prayers and thoughts. It means a lot to me

You might also try a GoFundMe page it's a long shot but it wouldn't hurt anything and it might actually help lots of people love to help others and the more details you can add to your story the better. Keep us in the loop. Thinking about you.
