Diana 1234's Journal, 19 December 2023

I have posted about our dog Sydney and the issue with blood in her urine. Last week we took her to Vet and they did an X-ray because her urine sample and blood work confirmed it was not a UTI or stones or crystals. Not Cushing's either. The X-ray didn't show anything abnormal but she continued to have blood in her urine. He did an ultrasound today and found a mass in her bladder. They are pretty sure it is bladder cancer. It is aggressive but operable. They feel like we should operate. We made the decision to go ahead with surgery. We are waiting for a date from Dr as it's tricky due to the holiday. They are not there at night from Christmas to New Year. She needs 3 days in hospital. We are heartbroken but hopeful that she will recover. She is more than a pet to us..she is our baby. Please pray for her. 😭😭😭💜💜🙏🙏🙏

Not cancer, but our poodle, Bogy, had liver issues. He had surgery in April 2017. He got sick again Jan 2018 & we had to let him go. It was the hardest decision we have had to make. He was only 10 & we had our 2 miniature schnauzers til they were 14. Prayers for strength & knowledge to make the best decision. ❤️

Diana, you were talking about triggers, the worry and worst case scenarios that run though our subconscious mind when we have a loved one....even a beloved pet that is ill can create anxiety and create the need for comfort foods. It impacts you on a deep emotional level. Your choice is hard....it was for me too, one of the hardest decisions I had to make when Red was diagnosed with multiple inoperable masses in lungs, stomach and bladder. The only thing comparable to it was when I was standing in the ER with my Mom on the stretcher and the Doc saying.....we can go to extraordinary measures to keep her alive..but she will be on machines and there is a huge chance she will die no matter what measures we take, or we can do nothing but keep her comfortable and let nature take it's course. I had to make that choice with Mom and I chose to do nothing. She had suffered enough. So we got an empty room in the hospital and sat with her for the next 12 hours, she never woke but watching the peacefulness overtake her as the hours went by.....she was at peace, it was the right thing to do. My prayers are with you while you make this extremely hard decision!

Debra, thanks for support and you may be right about the triggers. I’ve kept it under control last few days. I’m sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. That must’ve been so tough. Sending hugs! 💜

Oh no! I’m so very sorry! 😞 Big prayers 🙏🏻 for Sydney! Was she given any meds to help with pain? Is she in pain, did the vet say?
