I think FS needs a "dunno, but it was a really good buffet, so throw 1500-2000 random calories in my total" item in the food database 🤣 We had our library association's legislative reception last night, and there was an insane amount of food. It's why I didn't bother tracking yesterday. Ate my fill and enjoyed it, but didn't stuff myself. Not only do I have no regrets, the scale was actually DOWN this morning 🤔

Was also having myself a good old pity party yesterday because I went to the effort of losing 20 pounds to make cross country skiing easier, it DID make it easier (considerably!), but it aggravated the shoulder injury so much that I think my ski season may be over. 😭 20 pounds...might not be as much as many, but it took effort. It was a lot of mornings of measuring oatmeal and weighing walnuts.

Nevertheless, I'll get out in the woods today, just in hiking boots instead of ski boots. My husband will ski, and we'll just keep track of each other and rendezvous here and there. I refuse to give up playing in the snow.

Happy Friday, everyone! 😃

Enjoy your snow. We got some too but I will not enjoy it.

I use to use another a few years ago before I made the switch and they had days like that you could input

Exactly what the doctor ordered. A 'good ole pity party' then dust off and go play in the snow 😂 I would love to do that right now but it's 50 and raining in January in New England 🤦‍♀️ Maybe I'll go find a puddle to jump in 😆

Will do, Morticia 😊 mountainman -- was that MFP? I used them for a while but found it near impossible to find food in their mess of a database unless I ate the same thing every single day. I was getting malicious redirects off their website that I got almost nowhere else. Plus, I found the community to be toxic. One day I was berated for not weighing my lettuce 🙄 LivinBreezy -- the former library director here had the theory that if you were going to wallow, go ahead and get in there and wallow GOOD...but then get OUT. Get it out of your system instead of letting it drag on! 😂

And puddles are a hoot! Channel your inner child! 😃

Bummer about the shoulder. Good advice to jump in the wallow but then get out!

how about snowshoeing on the side of the trail? you won't get the glide, but you can hang out more. that said, my snowshoeing level is extreme novice so feel free to totally ignore it. lol

Hey, there's an idea! I can put on my Muck Boots and jump in the 'wallow' SPLASH 😆

So sorry about your shoulder but glad you have that backup plan!

The inability to just add a general calorie amount to a meal is one of the many reasons I don't bother logging my intake and just track it mentally. Have a great hike today! And sent you a PM.

Glad you enjoyed the food AND went down!👍 Have fun playing in the snow! Maybe exercise your shoulder making snow angels. Lol Enjoyed your dressing recipe last night!😋 Have a great weekend!:)

Navywifeski -- glad you liked it! JB - I find I use tracking more these days to make sure I get enough protein and fiber, especially since I'm prone to undereat protein, even by my moderate standards. Won't be on the computer for a couple of days to answer your PM. Hike was fabulous! 😃

Daddy Manatee -- it's advice that has served me well over the years. moko -- the backup plan worked like a charm! 😊

Katsolo -- I actually stopped to talk with a couple of people on snowshoes to ask them the ups and downs. They said they weren't much of an advantage on packed trails, except for having some grip. Could've used some of that today on the uphill stretches. Where they come in handy is off trail. My husband wants me to do some research on binding systems that allow you to use them with 3-pin cross country ski boots so that we could ski downhill, then switch to the snowshoes to hike back up. Could open up some terrain for us!

You weighed walnuts? I weigh lots of things, but usually not nuts. Usually I enter by piece, like 20 pistachios today.I have chopped walnut pieces and enter 2 tablespoons. I eat nuts for the protein and healthy fat. At least v you are getting bout in the snow a little

Yep, Fritzy, I did. TBH, it's just easier than counting out or measuring as I keep my scale on top of the microwave

That would be cool. One of my least favorite things is hiking uphill with serious gear and ski boots.

I love your plans! Skiing downhill & using snow shoes to go back up is brilliant too!! I hope you can do it. Enjoy!!

I agree that a 1500 cals general food choice would be great! I also log to see how my food breakdown is. Sometimes I don't have enough fiber, or protein, or I have too much salt & I can confirm it. I love that. Also, since my stomach was destroyed by a migraine drug I took (Topomax), I can't tell if I'm really hungry. My cal count can tell me! I also wish there was an edit button on here!

Hazel and Katsolo -- in my younger, more gnarly days, we would do backcountry skiing sometimes. We'd hook "skins" -- specially made rubber strips -- on the bottoms of our skis to hike up, then take them off to ski down. So much fun!
