It's so nice to finally be getting some things done around the house! All the rounds and logs from the giant oak tree I had to have cut down are gone! My neighbor, who is the strongest person I have ever seen, worked hard and it's all gone with plenty of smaller logs for my brother in law. Had the glass guy out a couple days ago. He fixed the glass shower door in 2 minutes. He told me all 3 sliding glass doors need new rollers. He emailed me the price and it is very reasonable so I'll get that done asap. I have to tell my house sitter not to open the door in the master bedroom because I don't want her to hurt her back! I also have been talking to a sales agent in Oregon about some new homes being built and he referred me to a mortgage officer so I am working on getting pre qualified. Also talked to my real estate agent here and prices are down from last year and no more listing the house for sale and getting multiple offers above the asking price. My house will probably sell for about $20k-$30k than it would have last year. I hope that's all.

Food wise, still not back on track. Not eating bad because there isn't much in the house, but I have had peanut butter on Ritz crackers more than once. Not allowed on my low fat diet! I need to get to the grocery store and buy some veggies to stir fry and grapes, raspberries and maybe some pineapple chunks. I love frozen grapes! And pineapple with some juice is good in the stir fries I make

Yay! You got your tree down with some wonderful help! Glad you are getting your rollers on the doors soon and moving right down your "to do" list. I'm sure you feel better about all that. Have a great night!:)

That would be one helluva workout to lift those logs! And is that the infamous Zoo Porch behind the felled tree? Agree that fresh pineapple chunks are great in stir frys -- especially with red pepper strips and chopped onions. 😋

think of it this way, if the whole market slides back, while you'll get less, you'll likely pay less as well. there are exceptions, of course, but it really did need to cool off.

Want to rent-a-neighbor! We need to take down the giant Cottonwood tree in the front yard. The estimate from the arborist was $2800. Thinking that we're going to enlist family assistance and rent a bucket lift. Friends have a log splitter and a fireplace. Proud of you for persevering!

Sad to see a mighty oak fall. Would have fetch a pretty penny as a hardwood log. The 100+ acre lot across from me is being logged again now for the 3rd time since I've lived here. This time it looks to be a VERY large scale operation. Pines for lumber, oaks for furniture, and several trailer loads each day of chipped treeheads go to the power plant several towns away. Hoping to get some firewood logs when they're done!! 🎄🏡🪑🪓

Thanks Navywife! It is nice getting some things done around the house. Bananas - the tree fell away from the house so you can see part of the deck. I'm trying to keep the wildlife off the deck. I've been sprinkling sunflower seeds on the stump of the oak and all the wildlife seems to know to go there, the turkeys, birds, squirrels and even the deer. Thanks Kat - I just home they are willing to negotiate prices in a new home development. But maybe with interest rates rising so quickly even those homes won't sell so gast. Slyone - it was $3000 to take the oak down. Total for all the pruning of other trees and the oak was $5000. I always make sure I get someone who is licensed and has workman's comp for their workers. I heard of someone who died while cutting a tree down locally. Don't want anyone getting hurt on my property. Thank LooseButtons. - I am so sad losing that tree! I looked forward to the acorns that dropped every summer and the squirrels and woodpeckers loved it. It was a beautiful tree, just too close to the house and it was starting to fail. All the bark at the bottom had broken off and lots of oaks fall around here when the rainy season starts. If this tree were to fall it would fall either on the guest room or on my bedroom. My neighbor was so happy to get so much firewood and so was my brother in law, plenty for everyone. Thanks Morticia - it is so expensive! I had another oak cut down about 3 years ago after 2 or 3 people told me it was dying or dead and needed to come down.

it's amazing what the tree services charge to take down trees but they no the average person won't do it themselves and has no choice but to pay. I had to take down over a dozen huge dying ash trees this past year due to emerald ash borers killing them. it would have been well over 10k. multiple of the trees were leaning towards the house and couldn't be dropped from the ground so I actually bought all the gear to climb the trees and take them down peice by peice. lots of work and not for the average person but damn I saved a ton of money doing it.

LooseButtons my neighbors just paid 3k for 2 trees and they were both dropped from the base with no risk of home damage just craziness. one of the main rules I live by in life is if I can't do it myself I probably don't need it lol the only thing I don't go too far into is cars.

Otb... 3k is just crazy... In the urban areas up here, they also charge people to haul the cut trees and limbs away... I pick up whatevers free and stack it for winter use in the woodstove. Sometimes it's oak, most times it's just kindling. I haven't cut any of my own trees in a lotta years... Just letting them get bigger until the price is up! 🎄🪓🏡🥶🔥.... 🎄💰
