Hi, does anyone have some advice for me? my husband loves his snacks (chips, lollies, ice-cream and more) and whenever I come back from a long day at work- I can't help but reach for these after dinner. I am too tired at this point to bother calculating the right serving size for the snack. I've had better self control before but now I am really struggling. Side note: I haven't been sleeping well either.

Also I wanted to thank this community for being so supportive and non-judgemental. You guys are the best 🙏

I get through these cravings on sugar-free zooper doopers, sour sugar free ice blocks (same section as the zooper doopers, no idea what they’re called), and the bar counter brand of protein bars for a choccy craving. I always factor the choccy bars into my daily calories because I can’t live without chocolate too 🙈

Also I forgot to add but smiths plain chips or salt and vinegar ones are a bit over 100 calories for a snack bag so if I can’t get chips out of my head I eat them too. I think most brands are like that too.

maybe you could cut up some fresh fruit ready in the fridge for next time , a bit of yoghurt on the side ? or some cut up veg sticks like carrots cucumber ect with a nice but yummy and low calorie(reasonable) dip

air pop corn bags....rice crackers in bags....all low cal and you actually feel like your having something just for you and an enjoyable snack ..cut up carrots and celery and get some humos.. look at keeping small packets so you don't over eat..

I can't snack or I don't stop and it becomes a habit for me. what I have starting doing is adding potato into my dinners, and I have shower straight after dinner and wash my teeth and then have a coffee or hot chocolate. could you try getting into another routine ? it's tough i know 😐

Have some options on hands that you can snack on and like. Low Sugar/Diet Jelly/Jello is a good sweet alternative, I make sure I have some made up for snacking and I have some no added sugar Chocolate on hand as well. Cashew nuts, Cottage Cheese...I'm terrible once I get in snack mode, I just want to eat and eat.

2 glasses of water to fill your stomach when you get home. My only snacks if I really cant control myself os a boiled egg from the fridge with a little mayo or a handful of almonds or a handful of crackling. all have low carb high protein.

I try to keep most of the high calorie sweets out of the house to get rid of the temptation. You can try the Halo top ice cream brand, they are low calories compared to most other ice-creams. Doesn't taste quite the same but gets the job done. air Popcorn and rice cakes are good too as other comments have mentioned :)

get hubby to put his snack in a locked drawer or tub. otherwise only buy the mini versions of the snacks. good 👍

I know it’s hard but try to get more sleep if you can. If you are constantly sleep deprived your body craves more sweets to ensure it has quick fuel. It is not your fault.

I sometime try the water trick so when l crave sweets l have a glass of water and it's not the same as having it but still does the trick sometimes

Im the same! I turn to low fat Chobani with a sprinkling of cinnamon. Not as good as ice cream and chips but it takes the edge off!

Is there time during the day or week to prepare pre made snaplock bags of your measured snacks or meals? Maybe your hubby can help out by having something ready for you when you get home.(Food or snacks you have planned to eat.) If I have trouble sleeping my hubby massages the top of my scalp (the way hairdressers do their magic 🤗) this knocks me out quick. even a gentle back massage helps me wind down. If mulling over and over thoughts of ' tomorrows must do plans etc', keep a paper + pen by your bedside and write those down knowing you won't forget them. The blue light from phone or computer used before bedtime will keep your brain activate. I hope deep sleep comes your way soon. 🐑🐑🐑

Whenever mine eats junk or food that I shouldn’t I pop into the shower. That way I can’t smell or see it

Also a good thing if you are tired then best go to bed. Maybe your husband could also be a bit more supportive of you as well..... I bought keto ice cream for special occasional treats and make keto banana muffins to have with it. But really eating after tea is a bad habit and best to break away from it.

Could you possibly meal prep your snack foods? I believe if you cut out all sweets youre more likely to uncontrollably binge so if you can get resealable bags or containers and put your preferred portion sizes into those and allow yourself to snack without feeling too guilty it may help curve those cravings :)
