MuscularManal's Journal, 22 January 2022

I've recently moved in with my partner who I've realised is a picky eater and that we have very different diets. Whenever I make lunch or dinner for him, I want to be able to eat with him. However, I also need to maintain a low calorie diet. Does anyone have any tips on how to manage a low calorie diet when living with someone else who has a different diet? I don't like wasting food either :/

It's very hard to do. My suggestion is that you cook for him and you separately and on different days and freeze portions so you can defrost his or your food. Also identify recipes easy to modify such as salad with dressing on the side etc.

I had same problem. I prefer healthy food, he prefers all the foods and beverages that are extremely unhealthy. After 16 years of battling of making separate meals, I gave up cooking for him. And gave up trying to convince him to watch his health. He cooks all his meals for himself (and enjoys cooking) I still make homemade bread for him. We eat together, no food wastage either. It works for us.

Get an air fryer and fry whatever food you prepare for yourself, paired with generous amount of dressing he likes

before you moved in he must have fed himself. perhaps explain the way it is and he can still feed himself..😎

I agree guys. Eating together, cooking for each other builds and supports a relationship. Your's or his resentment does the opposite and a lot faster. Find other ways for togetherness at least in the short term.

I usually add things to whatever I'm eating for my partner, generally a potato and airfried steak or chop (he's a meat & 3veg man).

My husband and I eat separate meals. I'm a vegetarian and on a diet and he's from a different country and prefers to cook in his homeland style. The only time we eat together is when we eat out.

My husband has never had to worry about his weight and eats whatever he wants, pretty much..I on the other hand can't eat like that.. So pretty much I add more veggies and salad to my plate, less rice and potatoes.. And for me smaller portion sizes.. Makes one wonder but doesn't it.. He can eat whatever, she has always had to restrict!!!
