Firefly_Faerie's Journal, 16 April 2021

So today marked my 3rd week sober from alcohol, and I couldn’t be happier. Sobriety has given me all I wanted and far more than I could’ve asked for. It all makes me wonder why I ever drank, though of course I know.

Sobriety has allowed me to deepen my relationship with my fiancé, given me a new sense of life, and given me back some of the memories that were stolen by the haze of alcohol. In a very real sense, the fog has lifted. What it has revealed may not be good in itself, but the healing it will bring about will be priceless. I can’t wait to see where my journey will take me next!

Good job. I have a couple gals in my world who I have known since they were 16 and in Juvenile Hall for drugs, alcohol and prostitution. They both had an incredibly tough road with ups and downs and other bumps in the road. Through it all, we remained close. They are 50 now, clean, sober, with kids, educations and great jobs. One is a forensic nurse pathologist and the other does music therapy for mental health patients. They made it— there is a light at the end of the addiction road if you can just keep putting one foot ahead of the other. You can do this. I KNOW it can be done and you have made a terrific start.

Way to go! I've seen alcohol ruin many lives first hand. Lives changed in the blink of an eye over a beverage. I'm happy for you, and wish you nothing but the best :) Go celebrate your success today, and have a blessed weekend :)
