Evil_Angel_Shay's Journal, 09 January 2011

Short journal for tonight b/c I just got back from the gym & I need to eat & hope in the shower before I freeze!!

Swam laps for the first time since early '06 (I think). As a swimmer, that's a LONG time to be away from my love. I swam for 1.5 hrs w/ resistance gloves & training fins to make it a harder workout & got 78 laps in (once upon a time 100 laps in an hour was nothing). Had to finally quit b/c my calf finally went into full cramp & it just wasn't going to go away no matter how much I massaged it.

Still felt amazing. I'm SUPER sore, esp my upper body. Can't wait to do it again. = D

Missed out on the hot tub b/c apparently right before closing is when everyone gets in. There were probably 15 guys & 3 girls. I took enough of them watching me the whole time that I opted out of getting in w/ them. A regular gym, no big. College gym, can't deal w/ the immaturity & ignorance that runs rampant in younger people. Next time I guess.

Good job! I'm glad you picked back up on an exercise you love. That makes working out so much easier when you're enjoying it. I wish I could swim laps like that! I'm an OKAY swimmer, but would love to be able to do 78 laps (heck...let me get 5 laps...LOL). Keep it up buddy!

HEY! Welcome back! Good to see you here again. That is a LOT of swimming! I do about 30 minutes before I start cramping!

Lol. Well my foot usually likes to cramp up first & after about 5 laps it did so but I was able to work it out & keep it under control (it will continue to try the entire time I swim). I'm a natural born swimmer & was on swim team as a kid. Getting me OUT of the water was a problem ; p I'm definitely feelin' it today. Gonna need to do some major stretching before I workout today. Quite a worth while workout!

LEGENDARY!!! Last time I went swimming, I couldn't do a lap before my whole body ached. I was MORTIFIED. I used to be able to get through 150 (olympic) lengths no sweat, but no longer. =/ And yeah, I totally get the hot tub scenario. OOOOOH, and cramp is often a lack of sodium, which is why competitive swimmers keep a bag of chips in their bags. I keep a wee baggie with a teaspoon of salt in it for gigs, because I sweat like a pig under the lights, and my feet cramp. Works like a dream!
