Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 19 August 2013

I've been physically accessed. I may not be able to walk tomorrow or lift my arms above my head... but I've been assessed. I realized 2 important things. 1. I hate to look weak in front of anyone. 2. I need to buy different shirts to workout because the t-shirts I have show my boobies off when I'm in a plank jiggling like jello. Even if I can't move tomorrow the gym is becoming my new favorite place because it's all about me improving me. Yes I went from being terrified of the gym and now can't wait to go in only 4 short days. You too could be a jiggly, red faced, sweaty gym person! If I can then anyone can.

Anyways.. We started off with my goals. I want to lose 35 lbs. I want to be able to functionally lift 100 lbs. As in pick it up, move it around, do a lil dance, shake a lil rump, and get down tonight. I want to be stronger, faster, and less jiggly. Yup yup.

This got me squatting with weights... First he just had me squatting.. um ok. This is what you do when you milk cows. Duh. That earned me a 35 lb weight. When I got smart and asked him how many more he wanted me to do when I reached 20 rep.. well then he was fascinated. CRAP!!! That earned me a 50 lb weighted bar. Then he asked if I could do pushups.. well.. yeah.. CRAP. Pushups at a slight incline on a bar. Pullups? Don't know never tried. Walkup pullups.. at the lowest setting. CRAP.. Then.. planks. Apparently I was suppose to collapse after 30 seconds. I didn't.. I completed three 1 minute planks. At which point he tells me what the typical woman usually does when they first start. CRAP!!! Next time.. when I shake like a bowl full of jelly and I think I'm dying.. I'm quiting. I don't care if I hate looking weak in front of someone or not. But nooooooo not me. I had to finish and be the strong farmers wife that kicks buttkiss. Now an hour after the assessment I have a gut feeling that I won't be able to sit, lift my arms, or well.. basically move in any way tomorrow.

BUT!!! I did kick some butt. I got a couple eyebrow lifts from the weight lifting guys. I impressed the gym manager who was doing the assessment. And more importantly I feel amazing. I went in feeling all tired, had a headache, was doing my typical monday morning drag and now I'm so pumped and proud of myself that I'm walking around with a smile and a little voice in my head saying.. I'm going to be wonderwoman!

Update on the 30 day challenge: I've worked out every day for 30 minutes since I started my self challenge. I've drank at least 8 glasses of water a day.. and I struggled but stayed around my calorie range... I may have gone over slightly last night so I made up for it by doing extra yardwork. I need to control my eating a little more or I will hover at the same weight. I don't want to hover. I want to fly! Well.. ok.. I won't fly but you get the idea. You can put the straight jacket back for now.

There's something about working out that really helps the mental attitude. Keep it up! You may be really sore, but before you know it, you will be a regular, and breaking all kinds of personal records!

VERY VERY NICE! Of course, the first lesson is - Gym is good for you. Gym CAN be fun! It took me several years of a weight loss journey to realize this. I'm so happy to see that YOU found out. ...and I guess the 2nd lesson is to not get smart in front of your trainer. :) Actually, it's a good thing. Carry max weight when you work out - it's much harder work but you will benefit oh so much afterwards. Totally worth it.

Accessed? Ah, assessed. You had me worried for a minute there, DFW. AMAZING, so good about the gym stuff. I'm so happy for you. I wish we could have been there to watch. It sounds like you did really well and had fun doing it. Have a wonderful day.

I'm jealous! The gym sounds awesome, I'd love a place like that at work (or Keld's gym, it sounds awesome too!) Jealousy aside, GREAT JOB! It sounds like you are stronger and in better shape than you give yourself credit for and will be the amazingly ripped twiggy butt kicking farmer's wife you want to be in no time :)!!
