JMA312's Journal, 05 September 2010

I am just a mess in my mind lately. What I mean by that, is that I just feel so unsure, so anxious, so feeling like I need to be some place else but don't know where.
I almost got in the car early this morning and drove 3 hours to where I get away on the West Coast of FL. I had a bag packed and was ready, but this morning I got up and thought, 'why am I driving over there for today only to have to drive back tomorrow evening'? Am I trying to run away or run to something? I just don't know. So I decided not to make the trip. I really can't afford the expense right now and should stay home and try to figure out what is going on in my head. I would be there by now if I had gone when I had planned, but then what and why? I used the excuse I needed to see a friend that is going through tough times right now, which is true to an extent. She really doesn't need me there right now and I will be going over the end of the month. I would have went to see her and chat, but it really is not necessary. I also feel I need to be there, to live there, but I know that is not economically possible right now and maybe some of that has me uneasy. I honestly don't like my job here, but again I should not complain, I'm fortunate to have a job. But still I feel trapped. I just don't know what to do, so I do nothing.

Sometimes you just need to get away. Get a change of scenery. Long drives are therapeutic.

what usually helps me when i feel this way, is a one hour massage at a very nice spa, or even a relaxing facial, it does wonders for mind and body!!!

Sounds like you need to change! If you even 'like' your job - you will be happier. Iknow work is work , but its good to not dread it! Hope that you feel a little bit more peaceful soon. xxx

Joyce- this might sound odd...but I think staying home was a good thing. Sometimes it's important to notice those feelings that leave us "a little blah" - and to explore them. Perhaps you're feeling restless and a little on the "let down" from your son's return and getting back into the swing of things...or the ending of summer...which is common for a lot of people. Maybe just setting a couple of goals around the house and getting them accomplished would help. Need to finish fixing something? Or maybe rearrange your furniture in a room, change some curtains, or go shopping and find a great buy at a thrift store. Then come home and take your dog for a walk. All things that could do wonders for your spirits! I hope you are on the "uptake" soon!

thank you everyone for your comments. Yes a massage sound supers Christina I might go for that! Jill, yes I know about work being work and there are times that I can tolerate my job. I just have to get the mindset that this is not a perminant position and it will change within the next 3 years so I have to hang in there. Yes Paula you are right, I did go shopping yesterday and found the perfect gift for a good friend that just turned 60 and is coming to visit the end of the month so that helped my blues. Today I was going to go into work to get caught up on paperwork, but I've decided to stay home (Labor Day) and just have a 'chill day'.

Hope you enjoyed your "chill day". It's good to have one of those every so often! Sorry you are going through the whole job thing. I can definitely relate. I get tired of hearing 'just be happy you have a job in this economy'. It sucks that in 'this economy' they feel they can give you less pay and keep increasing your workload and you're supposed to feel grateful! Well, enough negative. I'm going to have a great day and be productive! I'm smart and worthy of good things and I determine my attitude so I'm choosing to have a good one today. Hope you have a wonderful day also! Hugs!!!
