Diddlee's Journal, 19 September 2019

Joyful Pain 😃 Had to smile when I picked up a plastic shopping basket at the supermarket yesterday... pain in the arms. Turning the wheel while driving was also painful. Good pain. Makes me feel deserving of the meat I eat.

Went to get white rice yesterday, and plan to have some as a delayed dessert after first having a solid protein load after hard exercise.

With my history of abuse of delightful carbs, plain tasteless rice feels right as a way to help the liver.

Without any carb intake at all, my liver makes sure to keep my glycogen stores at a normal level. It takes 3 hours of moderate non-stop bicycling before I start to feel my reserves go down. I recognize it by feeling drunk.

When lifting weights without any carb intake, my reserves feel like they refill quick. Busy liver. The body talks, and listening to it has become my foundation.

Wow! congratulations! I know it's hard to try something new, you can be scared and that is normal. I so love rice, white rice is my favorite, I don't longer eat too much rice as I used to, now I use portion control and I cook it just with water and salt(fat free). I am a little scared too, I am going to start my intuitive eating today.

Great description, Diddlee!

Keilin_4 Wow, that's exciting for me to hear. I truly believe intuitive eating is the right way. Trusting your build-in food scale, so to speak. One element that can stuff this up is fructose. It is a know appetite stimulator. The stimulant effect can be reduced somewhat by leaving it for dessert only. Looking forward to jear how you go with this.

Diddlee, sweets first thing in the morning makes me really hungry too. Actually breakfast in general, but every thing is mentally, this week I have been eating breakfast and finishing my day with a good amount of calories, I have not been eating just because "I think I may be hungry" So right now that is my goal, eat three meals per day without overeating.

Hi Diddlee, just curious, how will white rice help your liver? Are you looking to speed up glycogen production?

keyten77 According to what I've read, white rice work well in regards to our build-in fullness 'meter'. With that in mind, I will dare to eat it slowly, and just wait for when the body give a 'that's enough' signal. Looking forward to try it out. Need to wait till I deserve it though :)

gz9gjg Yes, it is an experiment I have been wanting to try out for a long time. What if I give my liver a hand to restore glycogen. Will it make any difference. Don't know yet. What I have already tried, is to use carbs to fuel activity, and had complete failure with that. Carbs made me pathetically weak.

Keilin_4 I think you will absolutely love it when you feel you can trust your body signals. Basically automate it all, allowing you more time to enrich your life further. Feel if I can start the day without starting up the blood sugar rollercoaster, the rest of the day go pretty easy.

You are kinda freaking me out Diddlee. And I support your way of eating although completely different than mine.

Keyten's advice sounds good.

Erquiaga You're not alone. I freak myself out. I set September for this eat'n lift thing. October will be less freaky.
