Am light purple again - whew. My biggest trial is cooking for the family - must have been constantly testing food and eating the leftovers and I didn't relize it. Now see myself reach out and STOP! Did I always nibble this way?? wow.

I know exactly what you mean! Having two small children I was constantly eating the left over food off their plates! It is so hard to stop myself now, but I'm doing it. When I feel the urge, while I'm cooking, I get out a jar of pickles to snack on or something. ( I love pickles) Keep up the good work...you're doing great jenibee!

I have found that I can make healthy low carb foods that my daughter will eat. Then I make rice or pasta just for her as a side just for her. My husband is dieting with so it is easier, but I have found that if we eat healthy, my 6 year old likes to eat healthy too. It is never too late to teach our kids to eat healthy, especially since more and more kids now a days are obese and diabetic. When I serve my daughter I serve her kid size portions (small), I would prefer to serve her seconds than to have lots of food on her plate that I feel I need to eat. Then if she doesn’t finish all of the food on her plate, I quickly dump it in the trash. It seems wasteful but if I serve small serving it is not very much that I actually throw away. The other thing that my husband I and do is get up from the table and take our plates to the kitchen. We do not leave extra food at the table, we serve ourselves in the kitchen and eat in the dining room. Then if there are leftover we put them away quickly and sit back down at the table with my daughter until she is done. This way we don’t feel like we have to keep snacking.

great idea with your daughter. Wish I had donree that years ago. Cooking for 2 teens is a challenge, hubby good. One eats what I make the other nibbles some and dumps most. He then goes and buys his own dinner. He is SO big and i try and talk about it but he wont listen. Hard to when that was me a while ago. *blush Maybe when he sees a difference?
