Lotus's Journal, 28 February 2008

Ok, the scale said 131.8, only 0.2 from where I was last week. I am focused this time and am going to get into the 120's soon!!! I thought I was focused before, but I guess things can get out of hand when you least expect them to..stupid rainy day cravings! and STUPID broncitis! I I worked out yesterday regardless of hacking up a lung. I am going to take expectorants today, hopefully I can get rid of this crap. I was up untill 2 last night coughing. I went to bed at 11:00, I wanted to get extra sleep, but it wasn't happenin'. Everytime I tried to lay down, I would start wheezing like an old man or a smoker, I couldn't stop coughing. Brandon kept telling me to take Nyquill, but I kept thinking..200 calories of corn syrup per dose!! I didn't say that to him though, he would think I was obssessive!! LOL...I finally got up, made some peppermint/sleepytime tea mixed and played some Final Fantasy xii until I got so tired I couldn't take it any more. I am getting sick of feeling this way. Oh well, just gotta tough it out. I took it easy last week, didn't help. At least if I am active it will help me to cough up some of this crap..I guess.

They do make a lot of sugar free meds now, maybe you should pick up 1 of those Nyquil's and that can be "yours". Sorry you're feeling so icky, but that's great that the scale is pleasing you. I checked and I'm down from my weigh in Monday, I'm thrilled!

You're doing the right thing by staying active. It will definitely break up all that congestion. I really hope you get better soon!

Thamks I need that encouragement Bad Andee! Hubby keeps telling me to slow dowm, nut it doesn't seem to help, and in the meantime I am getting out of shape! I have muscle to maintain while I lose weight, or else I will lose lean muscle mass and still look flabby! I worked out for an hour to my Advanced 5-mile walk at home video, plus it was a lovely day outside so I chased Kalyn around for an hour, running/walking up and down hills, around the yard, in the woods. She had a blast and I got a mini workout. I kept my pedometer on and it read 2.2 miles after about 45 minutes. I really did feel better after working out..I did cough a lot, but forcing air deeper into my lungs seems to be helping to get the crap out of there.

Coughing is no fun. I'm dealing with a cough now and I've found drinking lots of ginger tea and water helps. What's even better is drinking ginger-garlic tea with lemon, honey, and cayenne. Yes, it sounds gross but it's not as bad as you might think. Get some fresh ginger (about an inch branch of the root) and 1 garlic clove. Finely chop the garlic and ginger then boil that for 5 minutes. Strain out the clove and garlic and add the lemon, honey, and a dash of cayenne. It's very soothing and will aid as an expectorant. Get better soon!
