I'm 31 years old and have always had that feeling that I need to be 20lbs thinner and I've gained 10 lbs for each decade I age. I need to stop this before it gets the best of me. I've tried several different diets but what I've learned that anything extremely strict doesn't work for me. It's definitely about starting new healthy habits that will get me moving in the right direction. I have found that I do best when I lower the amount of simple carbs and fat in my diet. What keeps me from losing weight is that I give up too easily. I drop 10 lbs and then no more weight loss for a few weeks and I end up gaining it back.

I have recently started exercising in the morning without doing any significant changes in my diet. I have lost about 2 lbs in a few weeks so it's helping but it takes a lot out of me to get up at 5am to do it. But once I'm done and off to work and I feel better knowing that I did it. I've learned that you just have to do it and not talk yourself out of it.

Now, it's a matter of improving my diet. I eat a lot of sugar snacks around the office and get cravings throughout the day. I tend to snack out of boredom or stress.

So this is what brings me to fatsecret...it's the online support group. I hope to interact with others who have had similar struggles and learn something each day. I'd like to find others who work in a similar office or weight loss situation who I can chat online with to keep myself from drifting to the snack table.

Thank you for sharing this site! I did the initial test this morning. I'm in Column 3 thanks to increased strength from doing yoga. I plan to start the plan tomorrow. Will check in after Week 1.

I recently went vegan and it's been difficult with my husband who eats meat daily. We have agreed that I'll cook my vegan meals for the two of us and if he wants meat, he cooks it himself and adds it to his plate. Sometimes, I'll cook the meat and then have him taste it to his liking.

I have to agree it's best to be upfront and honest about going vegetarian. There are several reasons to go vegetarian and weight loss should not be the top priority of going this route. Such reasons: health (lower cholesterol, fat), disgusting factory farms, animal cruelty, possible impact on climate change (less demand on beef may mean less methane gas which may cool the earth - this hasn't been proven but some scientists are pushing it).

Aside from this, make it clear that he doesn't have to join you and you won't force him to do so. Then make a plan on how you'll make your meals together work. Best of luck!
