Diana 1234's Journal, 27 December 2023

Sydney had her bladder surgery today. Dr just called, all went well but they had to take almost 1/2 her bladder. Mass was bigger than thought. Prognosis isnt as good as we hoped but we will take what we can get. We love her so much!

Update#2 My poor Sydney had a difficult day yesterday. Pain was up, she went downhill after that. We were very scared! I know she doesn’t understand why this is happening and why we aren’t there..It’s breaking my heart! She is supposed to come home today. We shall see how today goes….💜💜💜🙏🙏🙏

I am so sorry Sydney had a bad day. Maybe she will be more comfortable once she is home. I would make sure the vet gives you pain meds for her and maybe a shot before sending her home. I can't stand when my pets are hurting and I know you are the same.

Diana, see if you can weasel your way into the back and just sit with her. I truly believe that animals can heal better when they know you are near because it’s one less thing for them to worry about.

I’m a pushy b*tch about this stuff when it’s needed. I know they have notes in my file and I don’t care.

Katsolo, I did go see her. I couldn't take the thought that she may think we abandoned her ...They called me today and said come in at 1 for a visit with her and see how she does. Maybe she can come home?

That’s the right thing to do in my mind. I’ve spent the night on the floor, when needed. Prayers for all of you.

The other thing is, if you can convince them to let her come home and you will bring her right back if things go sideways, that’s a less stressful environment for her.

Kat, that's my plan. The Vet is less than 10 minutes from my house. There is also another emergency animal hospital about 15 min from us so I'm going to try and convince him. I hope he lets me take her.

O boy. Poor baby. I also think she would do better at home recovering where you have eyes on her probably more frequently as well. I just realized our mobile vet doesnt have a brick and mortar location. Will have to ask her what to do if we are ever in this situation. Sending Sydney love and hugs and kisses and prayers for healing. Also sending them to you and joe Diana. 🥰

Like humans, healing is speeded up when in a familiar and loving environment, home is where the healing starts. To a dog, pain is secondary to the security of the pack, if she knows her pack is with her and safe, she can relax and heal.

My vet doesn't have any staff overnight. One time, I think it was one of my dogs who has since passed, she either had a cyst removed or had something going on with her kidneys. They wanted her to stay overnight. I said no way. I'll get her at closing time and keep safe with me and bring her back in the morning if I have to. I hate leaving my pets at the vets

When our Bogy had liver surgery he was not doing well at the Vet. He wouldn't eat & they wanted him to start eating before they released him. We did go to visit him. In the end he was released to us to see if he did better at home. Within a couple of days he started eating & was on the mend. I'd advocate for him going home with you.
