This soup can be eaten as is or turned into French Onion soup if you are allowed the bread and cheese.
Ingredients
Directions
- Slice the onions and place in a large pot with 2 cups of water. Let cook about 8 to 10 minutes or until soft.
- Add beef stock, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Bing to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
- Bake 1/2 of a hamburger roll at 325 °F (160 °C) for about 20 minutes or until throughly toasted, this makes your "Crouton".
- Place 1 cup of soup into an oven proof bowl and place crouton on top and top with low or reduced fat provolone cheese.
- Broil at 270 °F (130 °C) until cheese is bubbly and brown.
- Note: the nutritional information for this recipe does not include the bread or cheese so if used make sure to add them.
