Originally from England, I moved to the States in August of 1998. I was fairly active in the UK with activities such as Mountain Biking and Squash. I also had a more “manual labor” intensive job which helped keep the pounds off. Since my move to the States, my job now has me sitting behind a desk and in the car for long periods of time.
I’m a pretty typical member of the “I need to work out and diet!” false promise group! I actually have two gym memberships to which I’ve never been to. A couple of reasons behind that; I don’t enjoy being surrounded by folk that look better than me and I have much less of a capacity for exercise than I should have. I also don’t enjoy it as much as a lot of people do. The hassle of getting to the Gym, finding it crowded, waiting for equipment, none of which improve my interest!
My eating habits are very poor and “convenient foods” are usually my daily choice! I’ll also go for the larger portions too when it comes to size options; “gimmie the 12 inch sub, not that skinny 6 inch!” I love food but have a very narrow mindset when it comes to variation; I simply don’t eat veggies! I’m a meat and potatoes kinda guy so I have my work cut out for me with regards to setting up a realistic diet that I can live with.
Being honest, I’m nervous about kicking off the P90X program because of my current physical status and food preferences but I’m determined to get in the zone and do what it takes to make it happen. I was originally going to keep this a secret from everyone I know but why? So I can face them if I fail? That’s not the answer either. Instead I have told everyone and now I feel a little more compelled than ever.
My wife will be doing the ChaLEAN program along side me so together we are going to “Bring It!” and help each other as we transform ourselves into the people we desire to be!
