Goal Weight
225.0 lb
Still to go: 37.0 lb
I've let my weight sneak up on me over the last four or five years since I stopped playing organized sports. I used to weigh around 210 lbs., which is twig thin for someone my height, now starting at 260 lbs., I'd like to get back down to the 220's range. I'm hoping that by tracking my diet and exercise daily, I'll keep motivated to reach my goals. In the long term I'd eventually like to come back the other way a little bit through strength training.

UPDATE: My goal weight was reached initially in 2011, which I maintained fairly consistently for over a couple of years at around 220-225lbs. Early though this year I did a good amount of strength training, but was sloppy with my diet, and I'm looking to get my weight back down to the 225lb range, which would put me in great shape, considering I have added some muscle mass. This time around it's a matter of finding the drive to devote more physical activity time rather than just dieting, as I have goals that include improving my performance in some distance runs. I ran my first half marathon last year, and am hoping to continue to improve my time, while over all continuing my fitness goals.

I'm big into hiking (or about any outdoor activity for that matter), cooking, and anything involving music (just listening to, or concerts).

Cannot stop this overeating bad habit...
Remember that you can burn calories through thermal load Smile One gallon of ice water takes in excess of 100 calories to digest. Some cool water at the end of the shower or jumping in the pool or ocean can also take a fair amount. The book I read even suggests an ice pack for 30 minutes on the upper back while you are relaxing. I've been experimenting with it a bit, and it does make a bit of difference, especially when you are walking that line.

People may write it off, but I drink between a gallon and a half and two gallons of water a day and do incorporate the cool water. If it takes off a total of 300 calories a day, that's an extra pound every two weeks without doing much of anything. Granted two gallons of water may be a smidge excessive for anyone not quite as huge as myself haha

I know exactly how you feel coming off of the overeating days...That's how my previous attempts at any weight loss came to a grinding halt. I would do well for a while, then slowly stop tracking, then it was fried food and beers whenever again haha. One thing that has helped me this time was setting one day a week aside to eat whatever I want, then the other six I try to stick to it as best I can. This way I still get to eat the food I really crave sometimes, but I control when and how much.
