I have been a fatsecret member for several months now and have bounced back and forth, doing well, losing it, etc.
Partly because I am a full blown insulin dependent diabetic, taking up to four shots a day....and to make me fatter, I had thyroid cancer a year ago and had to have my thyroid removed and six months of trial and error, trying to get my metabolism and endochrine system back on track. More weight gain, mostly not attributed to food intake and frankly it pretty well resisted food manipulation, too. So, hey, some of yu know the routine... you know... it's a medical condition, so why fight it.
Well, I'm back in the ring and I would appreciate some contact with others in the same boat. I am going to win this thing and being able to read about the ups and downs others go through help me to see that I am not alone when I sacrifice for a week and find out I gained two pounds for my effort.
This mrning I received an invitation to be beach buddies with one of your members and I was surprised at how pleased I was. Of course, I accepted...but then I found out I haven't a clue about how to respond personally. It took me twenty minutes to figure out how to post this message....and I don't know where it will go, who will read it, or if I could even find it again. Sooooo...do you think someone could help me figure out how to contact a specific beach buddy.... or how to work my way around this communication system.??

Anyone have the type 2 diabetes & insulin resistance?
I was just diagnosed with type 2 (pre diabetes) & insulin resistance. Over the last year I ve gained 30+ lbs all in my belly. prior to that I did LA weightloss for over a year & could never get below 160. At least now I know why!
I joined the gym & Im 3 for 3 this week. Worked out everyday this week.
Anyone out there in a similar situation? Id love to have someone to travel down this road with!
First of all, I love your screen name....wow, what an idea....
and, I do think this is a good site for anyone that wants to get serious about weight loss or nutrition control.
I've been diabetic for 15 years and insulin dependent for about three. And, I, too, have that horrid belly and rolls of fat on the back. They tell me that it is related to the use of insulin and some vody types react that way. naturally, I would love to get rid of them, but I fear I don't excercise nearly enough.
I'm not really wanting to lose so many pounds...but, I need the control to keep my blood sugar under control... and it really works. There are days when I don't have to take any fast acting insulin to overcome sugar bursts after meals...because the meals are better planned.
I kind of skip from South Beach to Atkins....some days, I need less carbs , but other days I can swing closer to SB, which is a little more lenient about carbs, but harder to track calories and carbs at the same time.
Oh, well.... Like I said, I just got here a couple of weks myself, so I've got a lot to learn from these ladies.

Been gone a while... Had thyroid cancer, then removed thyroid, then found traces of cancer elsewhere.... more doctors, scans, travel, and frankly, weight ...
