Been gone for a while... but now I'm back for a while..
When not here , I am in parts unknown in Southeast Asia...
So, how do you stay on track like that... ??? well, plan ahead...
This time I set up a travelers membership at a Hanoi Gym and one in Manila...
Food is not a worry in Nam... You can eat Pho for breakfast lunch and dinner for 6 USD per day... stay for a few weeks ..and never eat the same Pho twice...
Manila is a different story..with heavy American influence... you will find a carb rich environment... However, this can be shut down by eating at Kenny Roger's Flame grilled chicken... Yea, that Kenny Rogers... only one I know of in the US - Orange County , California.. but all over SE Asia... Be careful of the side dishes.. but the chicken..killer...

So since my last weigh in I added 5 pounds... but no worries..that's bottled water and airport food.... back in my own kitchen ... and the gym is in the other room...
Will be an easy task to go much lower... All you young bloods out there... you know ..you 50 somethings... No excuses... cause i got more time on you than you think... and if I can do it...so can you..

Duel Purpose Exercise

I got nothing to really journal today... because I been working on my new , home state of the art, Iron party Gym... That said... I will give a little advice commensurate with my years..

Exercise should always have a bigger purpose than just exercise..
Me , I always look for duel purpose...
During the initial exercise craze in the early 70's... I opted for Martial arts... I burned more calories.. and my skills eventually brought me to the point where I was teaching law enforcement, Special Forces, Executive Protection and a pleathra of others.still do on occasion.. duel purpose...
I initially started lifting weights to bring more power to my left hook and uppercut... and fought many in the amateur ranks at the bottoms , in West Oakland..
looking for more power.I also got built, strong and determined..
During the height of the counter culture... I played guitar in San Francisco...I didn't think of calories... at that time , I was thinking of girls... I wasn't that good then.. but it did have the desired result. Girls came, even though I sucked.....What I hadn't considered at that time..was the calories I was burning... duel purpose
You sit on a recumbent bike for an hour..and burn about 330 calories...
You shred... on a guitar... you burn 250 per hour... and that's if you are sitting and playing mellow acoustic tunes.. and even if you have no thought of calories... you get to be a better musician...weather you like it or not...
In 1980 I stopped playing guitar... because after an original tune... some women approached me... my wife got very upset.. SO, to ease her mind.. I put it down...for 35 years... My wife died in 2012... a week later I bought a guitar.. and have played , everyday for 4 to 8 hours...yes, I am a better musician tan I ever was... but...this is duel purpose... how much is 230 calories per hour times 6 ??? Make your exercise fun and duel purpose... Do it today... tomorrow never comes... Doesn't matter what your passion is... burn in it...

a pound away from the so called top of my BMI...
remember folks... who devised the BMI...
and I go there to prove a point...


True Bmi is when you are at your strongest... most healthy and lowest weight...without losing strength or vitality.. period..
regardless of what the scale may say...
What is your strongest ?
Senseiande says , It is the weight where as you are the strongest and healthiest you can be... This is never found in math, physiology, psychology or any other ology... it is felt.... and then you will know... You don't need some hack giving you standards that can never meet current criteria... According to the pros... I am supposed to be between 128 and 166 pounds... BS
but I will go there, just to prove a point... the point..

Remember, the BMI was initially invented by some dude... who had zero experience in nutrition, exercise physiology, or really anything else relative to this site...
He was an astronomer and mathematician.. well over 100 years ago...
Yet, everyone is browbeat on his formula... based on WHAT ???
