I moved away from Ohio in 2001 and immediately discovered a world of food that I never knew existed! Indian and Thai curries, Korean BBQ, guacamole (yes, guacamole)! It was love at first sight! Unfortunately, I think I display my affection for food by over-stuffing my face with every good-tasting morsel that is placed in front of me. Often times, I can out-eat my husband. For a while, this didn't phase me as my metabolism was running at full speed ahead. As I near my 30's, though, I'm noticing that I've been putting on a few pounds here and there every year. If the trend keeps up, I'll need a new wardrobe to accommodate my expanding waistline! Not to mention the fact that I feel tired and gross 95% of the time.
With that said, I'd like to continue eating the wide variety of foods that I have grown to love over the past several years, only more of the healthy stuff and smaller portions of the not-so-healthy stuff.
I also have a desk job and commute via car. Sitting all day makes me extremely conscious of the copious gut that hangs over my pant line. In an attempt to be less sedentary, I have been running for the past 3 months. I'm now able to go 3 miles without stopping, and am hoping to go twice as far by the end of the year. Boo ya!
Lastly, I've banded together with 4 of my friends for a little healthy competition. So far, it's been very motivating to know we are all working towards a similar goal.
