So I am inching closer to a big Milestone In life. I am 2 years away from hitting 40. I don't want to get to that point and say oh my god I got out of the USMC and just got bigger with every passing year (like I have been doing).

I want to step away from the refrigerator and snack machines... I know that I can do it! I know that it isn't impossible. I have done this before.

I quit smoking 3 years ago and I feel great thanks to that, now I just need to get motivated to lose the extra lbs.

I hope by becoming serious about this on here it will help me get serious about it off the computer!

Thinking about quitting smoking...
Thanks Smile

The first and most important thing is you have to be ready to do it or you will never have the will power to do it.

I will say one thing though My Dad has been a smoker for ever and He keeps saying once I loose a few more lbs I will quit (he is on the adkins Diet and doing great but still smoking.)

I wish you lots of luck quitting and I hope that you do it before they get to $12 a pack! I squirm when I think that I spent $8 dollars a pack!

Good LUCK!! Smile you can do it Smile

Thinking about quitting smoking...
Hello!

I am on week 7 as we speak! It is hard and there is a little weight gain. But if you go to the gym and change the Snackie junk food for Good food you should do great.

A few of the things that I am doing are:

1.)I make my lunch and bring that to work drink and all. (I don't carry any change or cash in my purse so that I am not tempted to get anything from the machine)

2.) I have told everyone that I know that I have quit smoking and that encouragement is needed SmileI have some really great coworkers (I have even inspired a coworker to quit too!)

3.)when I have the feeling like I want a cigarette I get up and get a drink of Coffee(black), Tea, or Water (no soda or sugary drinks)By the time I get my drink and get back to my desk the craving has gone away.

4.) Sugar free gum is my friend. Smile

5.) Baby Carrots and Celery are great as well!

6.) Go for a walk around your block when you have a craving at night Smile

Lastly don't beat yourself up for gaining a little bit of weight. You are doing something really great for yourself and if you are ready to quit for good then you have to do what you need to in order to be successful!

Does sucking in your stomach while doing cardio make a difference?
In pilates they say that it should feel like you are trying to have your abs touch your spine or like there is a string attached to the inside of your Abs pulling them toward your spine.

Good luck! Smile

Just wondering if anyone else out there is doing the Couch to 5K?

How is it working for you?
