Simple Raw Food Recipes
TabbyMc, I'm mostly raw vegan now and have evolved a lot of my own recipes from ones I found online.

One site I love is Addicted to Veggies. Her recipes aren't always simple, but they are always superbly flavorsome. She clearly adores food and eating! I also like that she gives info on using the oven instead of a dehydrator, I have one, but it's a big investment so especially when starting out raw most people don't. It's amazing the difference in taste lightly dehydrating veggies can make.

Her Romano sauce over zucchini pasta is a meal I love and great for weight loss as it's lower calorie.

She does a Thai satay style sauce that is great over salads or lightly dehydrated stir fry veggies, nice when gently warmed too. I might make that today!

Flax seed crackers can be made far more interesting and tasty by altering the basic recipe of one cup seeds to one cup liquid. I use ground linseed, a small amount of salt, and for the liquid part I use a cup of veggies mushed up in my food processor. Zucchini and red pepper with some basil and garlic is particularly good. Usually so much water is present in the veggies no extra water is needed. These are wonderfully flavorsome! Using a little less linseed and adding about a quarter cup of ground almonds or coconut flour means they dry softer and can be used as wraps.

Even though some raw vegan recipes might be too indulgent for weight loss (all those nuts, dates, and agave in the cakes and sweets!) it's fab both for feeling good and for gaining health. I lost my stubborn last 20 pounds when I went from vegan to raw vegan. Cutting out grains and soy made the difference, I think.

Unfortunately I broke my foot a few months ago and put seven pounds back on because I couldn't walk, but it's coming off again now.

My feeling is when we're mostly raw, eating a good balance of veggies, fruit, nuts and seeds; not too much of the indulgent stuff; and exercising enough, our weight should stabilise somewhere healthy.

Good luck with your eating and weight loss adventures!

Open Mouth....Insert Foot
Hugs, MommaBrennan. There are an awful lot of stupid people out there. Thank God our problem is just overweight. We can lose weight, they'll always be stupid. Evil or Very Mad

I had something similar happen to me when I was younger and at my maximum ever weight of 215. I wore loose dresses to cover up, and a teenage girl ran up to me very excited in a store one day wanting to know when my baby was due, chattering away about how wondeful it was and how much she loved babies. Poor kid was so mortified when I told her I wasn't pregnant.

Anyway, stay strong Momma, you can do this!

Calorie Breakdown
Thanks for the answers!

There was a small amount of fat, too, I think about 5g. The numbers weren't adding up for me, though maybe that's because I'm looking at the protein and carbs as a perecntage of each other rather than total calories. It doesn't make any sense at all to me that my carb calories would be three times my protein calories.
I've eaten more now (late afternoon here in the UK), but it's still not adding up! My numbers now are Fat(g)10.49, Carbs(g) 69.24 (Net C(g)51.74), Prot(g)66.48, KCals 555. But the Calorie Breakdown graph is showing this-
Calorie Breakdown:
Carbohydrate (50%)
Fat (17%)
Protein (33%)

I can't see how just a couple of grams difference would make such a big difference in the perecentages- there should only be about ten calories in it! Actually, I think either the calorie count or the grams count showing in my food diary is wrong, because when I do the math it should be around 635 calories on those grams. Maybe I'm missing something?

Oh well. Maybe I should stop worrying about it and go back to my old calorie and protein "guesstimate" method. It's worked okay so far.
I've wasted too much time today trying to make sense of the numbers My Fat Secret is giving me!

But thanks to you both for taking the time to answer- I really appreciate it!

Calorie Breakdown
Is the calorie breakdown feature working properly?
I just joined yesterday, and had a very carb heavy day, so it's right for yesterday. Today I had 50g carb (40g net carbs) and 30g protein for breakfast, yet it's still saying almost the same as yesterday- 19% calories from protein and 63% from carbs. That does not add up!

Does it work on a cumulative basis rather than a daily basis? If so, how can I change it to show a daily breakdown?

Thanks if anyone can help with this!
