most would say go by the mirror, but if thats not the answer you were looking for, i cant help much.

Scale Question
Hello, since most of the scales use an inaccurate method of measuring bodyfat ( 2 persons can have the same wieght , but look really different )
electric impedance is also an inaccurate way to measure it.
My suggestion is to use Body fat calipers, very cheap and accurate, or Go for a DEXA scan ( it may cost a bit more but its verry accurate and it shows musclemass, bodyfat, bone mass)
