I'm 58, disabled former cardiovascular tech with diabetes, fibromyalgia, bad feet, and no thyroid. The good news is that I live with a very supportive husband! Our 2 sons are raised and it's just us in the kitchen. I tell him to hide his junk food because I have no willpower at all. After all this time together, he believes me!
My weight problems started when I had a complete hysterectomy 13 years ago. The surgery didn't heal well and I was in bed for 7 months. I came out of it with diabetes. The fibrofog has made it hard to focus on organizing my diet and testing regularly, and the thyroid problems were not properly treated, depressing my energy and concentration further. Still, my A1Cs were good until about 6 months ago. They're now creeping up, so it's time to start paying attention. This site is a treasure! I can plan and track my diet! Such a deal!
I won't be posting regular weigh ins. I don't own a scale because I get compulsive about weghing and I stop eating! So I will only post my weight when I go to a doctor's appointment.
I will track my success by my glucose readings, consistent diet and exercise, and clothing size!
Three thoughts: Progress, not perfection! Life is grand! Seize the day!
