If words had great taste I'd feast on them daily
just like the oul great kings of yore.
I'd banquet on journals, devour messages gaily
and gorge till me tummy was sore.

Some entries are low carb succinct and precise
which always seems just fine to me.
While others are meaty and often read twice
before the true message we see.

Ohhh theres many a mean caller like Tom or aunt flo
not forgettin' oul Bertie the bloat.
All sent here from hades to try us, you know
every ready to snigger and gloat.

But thats why we have buddies sent from heaven above
to keep us inspired every day.
Their words drip with kindness and flow with such love
they mean more than we ever can say.

So smile and feel good as the weekend draws near
a chance to rest and renew.
May temptation be banished along with all fear
and may the Good Lord bless each one of you.

Well what did ya expect? Poetry!!! (and I never used the word 'feckin' once!!)

Have a great weekend all....xx

*switches on the Bonanza theme tune - before starting the voice over*

"He came from the old West out yonder where the praire grasses sway in time to the to the fall of the horses hooves... The sun was high and burning hotter than steak on a griddle...lucky for him that he had his Stetson to shield him from the burnin' rays...

The day had been tough... why already he had jailed some rustlers tryin' to steal his protein. Had to keep the peace between the womenfolk who were challengin' each other to all sorts and had gone off to try run Liberty's Ma in Law outta town.... as he headed for the saloon he could hear the chant of the towns folk as they cried..

Davy Davy Davy.....

Wavey lines now appear as reality breaks through and I find meself at home being yelled at by her almightyness...

David David David... stop riding around the garden on your imaginary hoss and come in for your dinner this instant!!!! Your a near full grown man for goodness sake!!

"Ahhh Maaaaa"

(Can ya tell iffin I'm enjoyin' me new hat??? - said with copious boyish grins..)

Other than that - can I just confess to feeling just a tad kinda mentally weak lately....after these past months of religiously staying under 20g per day....food is seeming boring and cakes are seeming delightful lol... tis just phase I know and will pass. Sure all I have to do is remember how far we've come and how good it feels...

Now!!! am off to check out sara's miracle noodles!

I swear to God if it doesn't stop rainin' over here soon I'm gonna join a funny peculiar sect and become a duck!

"Quack"

later.... xx

Grrrr... working 100% of the time is no fun is it??? Am really sorry to have been missing in action lately but I am the only one here running the company at present and its been 'full on'. The troops get back at the weekend *s* so things will be back to normal insanity by next week!

God... I've missed homecomings... and Birthdays... and departures... new challanges...sun tan issues *s*... weight loss and more.. this is a happening place isin't it!

Over this side of the Pond... I got my family back last Wednesday from the UK and Germany, we had a national holiday last Monday and we have my sis in law, hubby and one niece staying this week and MIL arriving next week... so plenty happening...

But the best news by far... is... that I GOT my COWBOY HAT... it only took me 40yrs of yearnin'.. but it arrived in the post yesterday (*winks in thanks to gramn for pointin' me in the right direction then giving the shove that was needed...."'preciate Ma'am")

Sarah was in when it came and she tried to get the UPS delivery man to take it away again.. "you realize that he will be insufferable when he gets this" she explained with tears in her eyes..
As if I would wear it.. tip me hat, call everyone 'Pilgrim', sashay all bowlegged like and embarrass my family.... I mean... would I?

Would I??? Pilgrim!

Darn thing is a tad too big (even though I measured with religious percision!).. but am gonna just keep it and just order more! They are nice folks out yonder in Arizona..

Meanwhile. I'm walking when its not pouring with rain and keeping the carbs under 20g still. The average loss seems to be about a pound a week. Am 13lbs from a final goal that I just never thought achievable only a few short months ago... and the whole epic journey has been laced with laughs, inspiration and new friends..How brilliant is that...

Well am really dashing this off before the phones go mental again..need to try to make a few sensible and deep comments round and about too

..... That'll be da day!

*Tips my genuine stetson and sashays on yonder....*

28 July 2008

A funny thing happened me this weekend, a first, something that has never occured before. I kept forgetting to eat!!!???!! So I did the usual checks...was I dead? - no. Was I pregnant - NO. Was I mentally deficient - yes (but thats irrelevant), and then it hit me....Mistress Ketosis had come to play. This was further confirmed by a surge in energy or staying power and a 3.2lb loss on last weekend! Mind you I got mad after my gain and worked like a durty savage all last week to keep my carbs to around 10/12g per day (which allowed for any hidden carbs). So since the beginning of april really, I have lost over 21lbs and in European terms, I am back under 12 stone for the first time in decades!!! And it feels feckin' brilliant....

Some people might say well done Daithí 'n' stuff like that, but in absolute reality...none of this would ever have happened without the encouragement and support of everyone here. Platitudes can be dished out easily at times (I should know - I do it lots!!) but it should NEVER be underestimated how empowering a simple remark to a journal can be. It has been a wonderful experience getting to know each and every one of you and I give thanks for it constantly ESPECIALLY for the friendships that have blossomed which transcend the annals of f/s.

Tis been an century old tradition here in Ireland to cut the turf out of the bog...let it dry..stack it...air it..then draw it home for the winter fuel, the burning of which is what gives the mystical willowy aroma in the air. And so it was, that I spend the weekend in the bog, restacking the last of the turf before drawing it home next weekend - bogs by their nature are in remote places... and so the peace was mighty, it has been a while since the hum of wildlife was so deafening. I also came across wild raspberries and blackberries - so I had me a handful of the most genuine organic fruit ya could get... and not a bit of packaging in sight! This city boy was meant for the countryside...am lovin it.

The family business mine for 2 weeks the brothers and sister in law who work here too, are away on holidays in Spain for the next two weeks leaving me at the Helm (the fools.. the fools!!), hopefully it may be quiet because of Industry Holidays but if I'm not about much...you'll know what I'm doin'

Right... I'm off to raid the petty cash box and swivel manicly in the biggest leather chair!!!!
