Hi, Folks.
I've been battling a bad cold for the past week or so, so that means no running, since I'm gasping for breath by the time I climb a flight of stairs! Alas, I am not the immortal superhero I think I am and it's the first time I've been sick in at least 3 or 4 years, so I'm not handling this gracefully. I am super appreciative of The Sig-O for taking care of me and tolerating me because I've been acting like a giant sniffling baby. In the past week, food-wise, there have been a lot of veggie soups, smoothies and green juices, so I know I'm on-track, even though I haven't been logging my food. This cold has been challenging in particular because I'm used to making this homemade magical cold remedy tea with fresh ginger, garlic, red pepper flakes, jalapenos and lime juice, but I don't eat nightshades anymore, so no magical cold tea for me this time! *insert sad, pouty face here*

On a non-health/wellness-related front, I have sold one of my drawings for $500! It's a picture of cute little girl with the head of a giant lizard/demon, wearing a flowery dress, holding a huge lollipop and teddy bear, who has been abandoned on a desert road with buzzards flying all around her. Yes, it's a bizarre image, but the unexpected extra cash will help make Christmas a little more fun, for sure and has definitely help lift my spirits while I've been under the weather.

I'm hoping to be able to ease back into exercise in a few more days, when my breathing gets back to normal, so I'm sure I'll be running circles around the town sooner than I think. I have been reading your journal entries and want to lend my encouragement and support during this difficult holiday season. Stay strong, stay focused, have fun and be safe!

I'm lacking motivation today, Kids. I'm officially blaming it on the weather. The wind is howling outside and I don't feel like running 8 miles in gale-force winds, & getting pelted with falling acorns! (I was hit by two the other day on my long run!) I may just hop on the basement treadmill instead, even though powering up the monstrous hills in my little Pennsylvania mountain town has really been helping my strength & stamina. It feels a little like I've officially turned into a Weimaraner who will shred your couch cushions and chew up your fancy shoes if I can't run at least 4 days a week. Well, I'm a Weimaraner with T-Rex tendencies, since I'm still cursing my way through my push up-centric strength workouts. Who knew I would instantly start channeling my "inner sailor" the minute I hit the deck and start doing push ups? It's not pretty folks, but I refuse to give up!
On the food front, I think I'm making some soup today. It feels like soup weather, and tucking into a hot bowl of lentil & kale soup sounds simply magnificent and comforting, while snuggling under a blanket watching the latest episode of Downton Abbey tonight. Like I've said before, my life isn't glamorous, but it is pretty awesome, nonetheless.
Now, go out and make this day extraordinary, Folks!

Happy Halloween, everyone!
Oh, the life of a procrastinator. My pumpkin is still staring at me, uncarved. *sigh* My Richard Simmons Halloween costume is missing its crucial wig component, and I have way too many errands to run today in addition to all of my usual butt-kicking awesomeness. I'm swamped!

And now that I officially have the appetite and metabolism of a 17-year old boy (no kidding, I can't wolf down food fast enough these days to keep up with the amount of exercise I do!), I desperately need to go to the grocery store because I've devoured half the pantry in a few days.

Two things I'd like to do this weekend are the nearby Bikram yoga studio (also known as the "hot yoga") is having an open house tomorrow with free classes, so I want to give it a try to see if I like it! It's 90 minutes of sweaty poses in a 105 degree room! What's not to love about that, right?!?! Also, I'm also still DYING to try the indoor trampoline gym nearby! I doubt I'll get around to dragging the Sig-O there this weekend, but a gal can dream, can't she?

And where on earth am I going to find a Richard Simmons wig on Halloween??
I'm doomed. Damn you, Richard Simmons for having such awesome hair!

Ok, enough typing, more butt-kicking. Gotta run, Folks. Be safe tonight, and take it easy on that Halloween candy! :)
