Sweeet2th's Journal, 12 November 2014

I'm lacking motivation today, Kids. I'm officially blaming it on the weather. The wind is howling outside and I don't feel like running 8 miles in gale-force winds, & getting pelted with falling acorns! (I was hit by two the other day on my long run!) I may just hop on the basement treadmill instead, even though powering up the monstrous hills in my little Pennsylvania mountain town has really been helping my strength & stamina. It feels a little like I've officially turned into a Weimaraner who will shred your couch cushions and chew up your fancy shoes if I can't run at least 4 days a week. Well, I'm a Weimaraner with T-Rex tendencies, since I'm still cursing my way through my push up-centric strength workouts. Who knew I would instantly start channeling my "inner sailor" the minute I hit the deck and start doing push ups? It's not pretty folks, but I refuse to give up!
On the food front, I think I'm making some soup today. It feels like soup weather, and tucking into a hot bowl of lentil & kale soup sounds simply magnificent and comforting, while snuggling under a blanket watching the latest episode of Downton Abbey tonight. Like I've said before, my life isn't glamorous, but it is pretty awesome, nonetheless.
Now, go out and make this day extraordinary, Folks!

Kisses, Kale & Kettlebells,

I do try to remind myself daily how wonderful my life really is, Socolova. I've lived in central Alaska, near Fairbanks, and high up in elevation in the Colorado mountains (+9,000 ft), NM. -40F is not unusual in those parts. I'm no stranger to frigid weather, but after living in Southern California for a while, I've softened a bit and don't mind admitting it!

The last few years have been strange weather patterns here in Alaska. This last summer was one to talk about for the next decade - the sunshine was off the charts! This winter has barely started, where we've been in the mid 30s all week while the lower 48 is freezing! I love it!

It's pretty cold here in Frisco, Texas, but I promised myself to stay on track so, Body Pump and Aqua Zumba Aerobics tonight. If I had a treadmill at home, I might be doing the same thing, so keep moving that's key.

I'm guessing you guys would laugh at our highs in the 40's today in south Texas. Of course it'll probably be in the 70's in a few more days. Sweet2th, IMO you've definitely earned a pass on the outdoor running today.

Jena. I don't know about you, but if global warming is true, I'm ready to plant peach trees.

The clouds parted, the sun came out, and it was PERFECT for an afternoon run! I only ran 6 miles, though. (hehehe... only 6 miles. I love being able to say that!) My right ankle keeps banging/rubbing on my running shoe, so I decided to cut my run short today and not risk a bruised/sore ankle. My next pair of shoes will have a lower profile to accomodate my super bony ankles. They're like doorknobs nowadays!

I'm not going for a run. I got my firewood in for the next couple of days. That's enough. I'll do some lifting this afternoon.

Glad you got sunshine though. I did too. It's up to -15.
