Hi, I have turned 40 at the begining of this year (2009) and I am on a mission. To get healthy! My kids are 16 & 20 and no doubt in the future will require a big family photo (wedding) or give me grandchildren that will want to go on fun fare rides that right now I find uncomfortable. I also used to love going swimming but since gaining the weight, I don't feel confident enough to wear a costume in public. I miss wearing girly clothes and I miss feeling feminine. This time the whole family are backing me and I feel great. My life WILL begin at 40!

Low Carb High Protein Dieters ~ A Question For You
Don't you find it restrictive doing high protein low fat? I'm on high fat low carb and enjoy meat with it's fat, chicken in skin, cheese and cream and still lose weight. I'm at target now so I can have the occasional high carb mixed meal.

Not sure if this is weight related or simply an age problem but I got myself 1 last year and it ended rather embarressingly. Jumping up and down felt ok when I had the correct bra on but another part of my body lost the fight to support my bouncing. I had a little accident, pelvic floor not what it used to be. Just thought I would mention it in case someone thinks they have a serious problem.

Workout DVDs
Last year I admit I went a little nuts and purchased numerous "celeb endorsed" fitness videos on DVD. My favourite was Rebecca Wheatley: The New Me Workout. Brits will know her from being the receptionist off Casualty many years ago. Going to dig this out again tomorrow as I don't get out and about enough.

Support is VERY important
Hi, I am Lisa and I turned 40 this year. I have dieted on and off for most of my life. I know what works for me and what doesn't. I am hoping to share my life experience and gain some vital support and in return support you. It is very important in my opinion to feel you are part of a group and have the advice, pat on the back or comfort when the scales are against you. That is why these huge companies keep going, they feed off your fat and in return give you a feeling of being part of a support group. Some of us can't afford to pay £5 per week to get weighed and recieve the needed support, nor can some of us afford the silly priced food we are given to eat. I also had a problem a few years ago being told to eat eggs, I suffer from IBS and although I can get away with the odd egg, not on a daily basis or I would be in pain. I think it is also not covered too much about the hidden extras that we take for granted that we don't add onto our diet journals. The milk we put in our tea, on our cereals, do we have a sprinkle of sugar, a spoonfull of honey on our weetabix etc... It all mounts up. Also the added sugar in our favourite tomato/bbq sauce, relish and chutney. We need to add these into our extras as daily amounts. We are only kidding ourselves so lets treat our bodies with the truth it deserves and it will repay us.Very Happy
