My name is Randy and I am a Food Addict. Some people eat to live; I live to eat. I'll be 50 years old in June and have a pretty sedentary life. Mostly sit in front of a computer all day at work. I quit smoking 8 years ago and gained about 20 pounds, but after that my weight stayed pretty steady until about 2 years ago and I balloned up to about 230 pounds, a gain of about 22 pounds. I'd like to get down to about 190 and become more active. Wish me luck.

struggling
I can pretty much echo a mixture of what everyone else has said. I like to break up my exercise into several small chunks throughout the day.

I get up in the morning and do 10 mionutes on the exercise bike and 20 minutes on the treadmill. I have an elliptical at work and I try to do 10 minutes at least twice a day. I also try to walk up one of our structures here(30+ flights of stairs; about 400 steps) at least once a day.

In the evening I try to do 10 more minutes on the bike and 20 more on the treadmill.

I also make sure I'm got my iPod or the TV going as it seems to help me keep my mind off what my body is going through while I'm exercising!

Overeating? Read this!
I was also raised as a full-fledged member of the Clean Plate Club, and I am a terrible overeater. That is one of my major diet issues and one I am trying hard to correct. Have been trying very hard to limit portion sizes and just ordered a food scale from Amazon to help me manage this.

I cannot always trust the "am I still hungry?" query, as there seems to be a delay in getting that feedback from stomach to brain. By the time I actually feel full, I have eaten way too much. I hope my new food scale, along with being more aware of portion control, will help me with this.

Healthy/Low Cost Lunches
Michelina's Lean Gourmet has some excellent meals for around 300 calories, and they are only $1 at Wal-Mart($1.20 @ Publix). Also, you can get a coupon from Michelina's website for $1 off when you buy 5--that's 80 cents each! That's a pretty economical lunch, I think. My favorites are Santa Fe Style Rice & Beans, Three Cheese Chicken, Meat Loaf and Buffalo Chicken Snackers.
